Hammer or VOM

I finally dusted off the old Ninja('92 ZX11C3) pulled all the crap off to get to the gummy carbs. Cleaned the carbs, now I've got no fire. AARRG!!!
Last time I started it, one of the carbs was sticking a bit, causing it to only idle or run WFO.(flatslide carbs).Although thats usually how I ride,its just not right.:)

Question is should I go with my gut feeling(hammer idea)or go with my head(VOM idea). Has anybody got any suggestions where to start?
What can go bad electrically just sittin around? :confused:

I have purchased two used bikes down here (a 92 FZR and a 99 SV 650) and both of them had all kinds of coroded connections. Some were so bad that connections needed to be replaced. Funny thing was the easier the plug is to get to, the better the condition it was in. The FZR was a total mess when it came to the connections .. I had a computer genious vintage racer figuring it all out for me. Luckily he had a bunch of spare factory connectors.

On the FZR, SV, and now the V-Strom I have gone through all the connections, cleaned them with electrical parts cleaner, and applied heavy amounts of Dielectic Grease. I still have one bike to go through (my garage princess) before the humidity down here gets to her.


What can go bad electrically just sittin around? :confused:

Ironically Juice the reason I'm cleaning it up is to sell it. With the move to New Mexico I just wasn't sure if I wanted to take it or not. The bike is sooo beautiful to me,its in fabulous condition, well except.:D
I have gone though the motions to sell it many times over the years(bought it new in early '93) but just could not do it. It has a hold on me!:eek:
If I do really decide to sell, I'll send ya some pics.

Very nice Scooter. let me know if you do decide to sell. I had two zx-11's over the years. I had a 92 and later a 95 that I built for the track. I stretched it 10 over lowered it changed the gearing, muzzy full race series exhaust. I could get 10 flats out of her all day long. A 10 sec 1/4 is not all that fast by todays standards but 10 years OK a 10 was hauling.

Damn you scooter, Look what you have done. Man I miss that bike......I will see If i can round up some pictures when I get home this afternoon.

Don't start looking through old pics, Its very time consuming. You have to stop on pics of the kid"oh he was so cute then" or "oh I was so skinny back then" or even "look how little that tree in the yard was back then, MAN we're sooo old".:eek:
