To celebrate another sucessful hitch offshore, a few of us are getting together to run some Mississippi backroads. We'll probably stay on the pavement since there's going to be one or two sportbikes there, but sometimes the twisties can be just as fun right? Most likely there will be a few of us from ADVrider and a few who just want to get some miles done. As in usual tradition, I'm sure we'll be finding somewhere worthy for lunch.

It's looking like we'll meet up in Columbia, MS sometime around 9am on Friday morning. There's still not really a gathering place, but we'll probably pick one of the big gas stations there in town. It's one of those rides where nothings planned, and I'm not sure if we know where we're going, but everyone is welcome to follow. We'll have a couple of locals, but I'm not sure if they have any secret roads. In other words, bring your GPS cause you might need it.;) I do know one thing......after my experiences over the past few months, there aren't many bad roads up there and getting lost in BFE on an adventure bike is still better than riding around Houma!

Keep an eye on this thread as I'll be posting up the last minute details the afternoon/evening before.

I will be stuck in the office all day on Friday. But Man I would love to take the RC-51 out for a gallop thru some of those Mississippi backroads... Let me know if you ever put one together on a weekend.

Well, how about this weekend Juice? My buddy just called and said too many people can't make it on friday due to work schedules and such, so we'll be riding on Saturday. Same time and meeting up at the Super Wal-Mart in Columbia. It's going to be a cold ass ride out there that morning for sure!!!

It was great right up to the point where the rear shock blew on the GS. Oil everywhere. We made it up to Columbia and went into McD's to warm up, got back to the bike, climbed on and noticed a steady stream of clean oil dripping out the bottom of the bike.

2 hours later I pulled the pogo stick on two wheels up to the shop at Hebert Cycles. The bike only has 4400 miles on it, and 4 months old, so of course it's in warranty, but now's the good time to upgrade the suspension for my weight and riding style.

I was at heberts Sat evening, got there right at 3. Man that 05 1200 was singing the sweetest song to me....... And the fact that I just bought a new KLR was getting to me. Ahhhh one day.... That isn't to good to hear that the rear shock blew on that new of a bike.

Yea. That it blew on the bike really sucks, but being the first 1200GS that I know of to blow a rear shock makes me think that it's just an isolated incident. I've heard of them going on the older 1150's but only after at least 10k miles......mostly more. There hasn't been any incident logged on ADVrider and if it was something that happened often, it would certainly be on there.
