Well, we're finishing up the project out here and it looks like I'm going to get to go home a week early. Three weeks at home will have me suffering from cabin fever so these are usually the times I take a long weekend trip. I figured if there's anyone who might be able to get a few days off of work and feel like tagging along, I'd make the offer.
When: Flexible. The weekend of July 13th(?) through the 16th.
Where: Flexible, but I'm thinking of possibly Big Bend Nat. Park, OR Ozark Nat. Park.......preferably in higher elevations.
Why: I just gotta ride.
Who: Anyone else who just gotta get their ride on too.
What: Knowing me, if I end up by myself on this one then I'm going to take a couple of extra days and just go to Colorado (thanks alot Chappy Bable12 ), but if someone can only get a day or two off of work then I'm more than willing to work with something closer.
Big Bend is a 4 day ride, with the ride there and back on superslab. Speeds will be kept low to facilitate any KLR's that may come along (hint Kev). One day to Marathon, two days riding, and one day back. Camping gear and hydration would be the key to this trip. Offroad is likely as there are gorgeous trails, so I'm told.
Riding the Ozarks could possibly be a three day ride, although four would be preferable. Cheap hotels and local sights would be on the list. Twisties and good roads will be the highlights for this one.
Either ride will be HOT so think about that. I rule out the Smokey's during the summer months cause it's just too packed with tourists and RV's. This is a ride for a bit of peace and to enjoy the journey. Post up any ideas or if you want to tag along.
