The wife and I are going to take advantage of a day off and head for the hills? We will prolly end up north of St Franny via Hwy 16 up through Greensburg. Anybody interested in getting out? Holla?

I was thinking bringing da bride on a St Franny run myself
Planning on heading out very early (from N.O.) to beat some of the heat
What time were you guys going riding?

I'm goin' to cajun66's for some food and fireworks tonight and then tomorrow, out to Capn Skully's where it's more holiday frivolity, jocularity and fabrication.

I might get a chance to weld up that motorcycle carrier out of scraps of the 4' stretch golfcart I'm welding.

Dang, there's more of the Baton Rouge Aircoolers VW Gang on here than is healthy for you all. Oh well, you will be assimilated into the continuum.

Have a nice day....

Phat Bastard is going to be down here but I have a feeling he and I are going to be stuck doing family crap most of the day. If so then "Mrs. Phat Bastard" might hang both of us if we leave. I know the evening is booked for sure, but a ride during mid-day might be doable. I'll let you know.

There's some interesting stuff going on later tomorrow around 6pm downtown:

6:00 - 6:30 "Air Raid-Baton Rouge!!!" - The Louisiana Air National Guard will conduct a fly-by with F-15 Eagle jet aircraft in tribute to our men and women in uniform. Immediately following, grab your helmets and take cover as vintage World War II aircraft stage a mock attack on the USS KIDD. The veteran destroyer will defend herself with her main guns. Don’t miss the experience!

Hot Air Balloon Lift-Off - Watch several hot air balloons light up the evening skies.

6:30 - 8:00 The Chris LeBlanc Band - Voted "Best Original Music" and "Best Singer" in 2006 by the readers of 225 Magazine, Chris LeBlanc will knock your shoes off with his soulful blues-like lyrics and guitar licks. Rocking the Baton Rouge music scene since the early 90s, CLB will be performing some of your favorites from past albums as well as their latest CD Starshine.

8:00 - 9:00 Baton Rouge Concert Band - The Concert Band returns with a medley of patriotic classics to lead the way into the fireworks.

9:00 WBRZ-TV & The Advocate Present "Fireworks On The Mississippi" - Close out the day with a bang! A spectacular fireworks display over the Mississippi River commemorates our nation's independence at this year's celebration.

I'll probably take a short ride. Anyone else? The weather is bad to the southwest so it would be better to head East. Judging by the radar, we'll eventually get rain.

A day riding in the rain is better than a sunny day at work!
