This wasn't tested on a bike but since K&N's materials are all the same just in different shapes for each filter it should hold true on bikes too...

K&N air filters didn't do so hot in the tests...

So basically that test said the K&N filters out flow most if not all the others but doesn't do as good as the box claims about filtering the out all of the dirt. Interesting.

K&Ns are better described as an air screen than a filter.

precisely... sacrifice particle filtration for a few extra HP... and unless the bike is for track use only or you don't care about the cleanliness of air entering the bike then stick with something with better filtration... (most stock bike filters are actually an excellent blend of filtration and performance... after all bike manufacturers love to put out good performance from their bikes b/c that's what sells a sport bike.... and also remember bikes only have 1 year factory warranties... they could put a better flowing filter like a K&N and sure you might get a few extra HP and your engine will surely make it through the 1 year warranty... but if the bikes started falling apart like Fords and Chevys... who would buy em... I mean after all if we wanted our bikes to fall apart we'da bought harleys right?
