Thanks to Kevin, I am no longer among the ranks of those looking for a klr. Not only was he gracious enough to offer me his stead, but he aided in the logistics so that i could have her that much sooner. Kevin, I appreciate all your help.
A couple of quick trips around the block, and I soon had my thoughts confirmed... the KLR is so much more of a bike than it appears. So, i am looking to hooking up with all of you for the future rides and adventure seeking. Now I just need to get some dirt worthy tires on that thing.

I just put a set of dunlop 606's on mine. Man, they are a beast in the backwoods but they are a bit shakey on the tarmac. I would not recommend unless you will be doing about 70% of your seat time off road. I am actually thinking about searching ebay for a extra set of wheels. That way I can have a set for the street and a set of Knobs for off road.........

I'll take the take offs if you don't want 'em ;)
Oh and btw Congrats Jaime!

Way to go Mr. Horn, it is an under rated bike.
And YES get rid of the stock tires, D606's are a good choice.Whatever you do choose make sure they have good stiff side-walls.
I run Karoo's and can barely tell when they are flat.
I say this because I had a bad experiance with the stock tires. I was going 70-75 mph and had a rear blowout. After going handlebar lock to lock several times (completely sideways from side to side) I managed to slow it down to about 45 mph before I went over the bridge embankment and down into the ditch. I saw Jesus, he told me it was'nt time yet.:D Fortunately I never hit the ground. Got several pats on the back from onlookers. I did feel ALIVE!
The rear tire flopped and folded causing the whole mess.
