I need a front tire for my DR650 that will grip in the corners (street) as good as the stock Trailwings and offer better traction off road. My riding is 70% on / 30% off.

Maybe nothing turns quite as good as the stockers but certainly some tires will come close. I tried the Kenda 270 on the front and it was horrible, very skirmy in the corners.

I've noticed that the profile of the front Trailwing resembles a sport bike tire (with knob of course). It has a short sidewall (1.5") and a very rounded cross-section. The Kenda on the other hand was much flatter in cross-section with a very tall sidewall (in 3.25 size).

I've narrowed my choices down to these:

Continental TKC 80
Michelin T63
Mefo Meff 99

Of these three, which would you recommend for 70/30?

I don't know how they'll react on a lighter bike like the 650, but the I was very impressed with the dry pavement grip that the TKC's had on my 1200. In the gravel they were better than any non-knobby tire by a long shot as well.

I put the TKC on today. It handled great both on and off road. It saved my butt after I launched the front wheel on an unseen log in a turn in tall grass. The combination of the Maxxis 6006 on the rear, and the Conti TKC 80 on the front is a perfect on/off match. Road manners are very similar to the stock Trailwings, and offroad performance is 10X better.
