I’m going to ride up and meet with Patrick (Navaho) @ the camp Claiborne / Forest Hill area. Our purpose is to scout out some campsites and riding opportunities for a DSRL rally in late October. If anyone is interested in riding up with me post up.
LA HSTA ride schedule <HR style="COLOR: #c7ad5f" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Here is what we have scheduled for August through October:
Satuday August 19.
Meet at McDonalds on Highway 61 St. Francisville 9:00 AM
Depending on the weather we will either stay close to base and ride some of the many good country twisties in the Felicianas then hit a local eatery or head up towards Natchez if the heat and threat of rain permit.
I'm planning on riding w/ Chappy and HSTA at this point Juice

Have fun! I've ridden it once. A good variety of terrain. If you have ever ridden there, then you'll know it has some sections that are really rooted, due to a lot of quad traffic. But then again, that was about a year ago when I went.
Check out the web site to see if it is open. I would hate for you guys to ride the whole way, just to find closed trails. Here is a number, OHV Information Hotline: 1-(866)830-6467, you can call to see if it is open. Sometimes they don't update the web site. Best to call.
Click here for link to site for trails!!!! (http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/kisatchie/ohv/index.html)

Click here for map of Claiborne (http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/kisatchie/images/calcasieu-rd/maps/claiborne_trail_map.pdf)
Hope this helps.
Juice, if you are looking for a place to camp and hold a rally,,,,look into Enduro park also. In my opion, not as rooted and better for bike riding. Just my two cents.
You might also want into looking to see how you are able to get the whole park for the day just for DSRL. I've gone there before, place was open, but closed to public since they were holding private riding events. Just a thought. That way you wouldn't have to worry about the trails being swamped by a bunch of people.

FYI, the map you have of Claiborne has changed. The Boy Scout has been drastically altered, and you can only cross over Hwy 112 in one place. Acadiana Dirt Riders cut new single-track routes South of Hwy 112 last August and abandoned a lot of the old trail. Now, only motorcycles are allowed on the Boy Scout Trail South of Hwy 112, no 4-wheelers.
I talked to the Forest Ranger, and he said that we can camp out anywhere in the forest. We just have to abide by the rules regarding campfires.
