I think I got one on my 250 and on my Katana but was just thinking that I don't think I ever got one for my R6 and I don't think most of the people I know have em either.... Do y'all? (VOTE ON THE POLL)
DAMNIT CAN ONE OF THE MODS PLEASE ADD THE POLL... stupid forum is set to only allow the poll to be added within 1 minute of the posting of the thread?

Out of the 20 or so times I have been stopped on a motoycycle by the authorities I have never been asked to show an inspection sticker. The one time I did go to get a bike inspected, they were going to let a 15 year old kid do it. He started to climb on my bike and I asked him if he had ever ridden a bike before. He said no and I told him to get off my bike.

I was in a minor accident in Jan, 06 (not my fault). I was rear-ended at a traffic light at about 10 mph. Anyway, the po-po asked for insurance & registration but not for a brake tag. Mine was good 'til July though.
How come brand-new cycles don't come with stickers?

In my 20 plus years of riding I have never been asked for an inspection sticker.....I stoped buying them about 10-15 years ago.

Ya that was the idea I was getting... I remember on my first bike there was a huge ordeal to get one.... cant get a brake tag until you have an endorsement, cant get an endorsement until you have a brake tag... had to go to the brake tag station and get rejected and bring the rejection to the dmv and then get the endorsement and go back for the tag....
and any new vehicle sold should come with the inspection sticker.... the dealer I bought my first bike from said it shoulda had one but i had bought it at 7pm after all the inspection stations were closed so they just gave me the cash to go get one insteada them taking it for me like they were supposed to...
but even when I did get mine they never asked me to get on my bike or anything and I sure as hell wouldn't even let them sit on it.... they just asked me to flip on my brights, turn signals, hit the horn, brakes... and thats it... (I'm guessing he looked at the license plate mounting site too but don't know for sure)...
Also what I've seen is that in East Baton Rouge parish they are way more harsh and they do an emisions test... do they do that on bikes too here? I think I'll just go get one the next time I have my bike down in Jefferson parish where it seems to be much easier heh...

They dop at least they should. Most of the new bikes I have bought did but the salesman may forget. The thing is, inspections stickers are designed with the glue on the printed side to go on the inside of a glass windshield and lots of biker don't have windshields so their is no place on the bike to stick them. And I am sure people would complain if the dealer did put them on windshields on the bikes that do have them.

Well I was told by the dealership that the requirement for motorcycles was just to keep it with you (or under the seat) with your registration and that there wasn't a requirement to have it on the windscreen for motorcycles) I don't know if that is true by law or just common practice but I've never seen a bike with one on the screen and don't think we ever will here either... I know in some other states they have to display them next to the license plates or something like that...

I get them every other year or so when I think about it. Fairly painless at a Benny's Car Wash that I go to on Coursey. They stick it to a piece of clear plastic film and then you just carry it with you. I've never been asked for it, but then I can't remember being stopped in LA lately. I have been stopped out of state though, and they never ask, I guess because they don't know each state's laws. Just want to see endorsement on license and proof of insurance.

I didn't have one on my Bike, until I got stopped in April and ticketed for not having one.
A real prick of a NOPD stopped me for not comming to a COMPLETE FULL 3 Second stop at 2 FEMA Stop Signs on Saw Horses in Gentilly (Flooded/Devistated area with NO TRAFFIC AND NO INHABITANTS) at 1 in the fucking A.M. He wrote me a ticket for over $700!!!! Luckily I got out of all the fines except the Brake Tag so Now I Have one.
Brake tags? What are brake tags?

A wise old man once told me "Better to have and not need, than need and not have!"
Up here, they dont have tag's or stickers.

Never got asked for it when pulled over either. Guess it might be better to be safe than sorry though since a $15 sticker is better than a $135 ticket.

I have gotten a "warning only" for having an inspection in the past. The trooper said I was the first bike he had stopped with one. So it was worth it. The sticker is another way to track the mileage on vehicles, also...

The only time I've ever been asked for a sticker was when I let someone borrow my bike to get their endorsement.
I have one for the BMW but not the KLR. I generally get one when it's not any sort of hassle. I don't keep tabs on when each expires though.

I keep them on both bikes, mainly just in case.
My new one came with one from Honda of Laffy. That struck me as odd, but i didnt complain. Oh, they didnt give it to me till i showed them the endorsement.

ok with that said and done... who is the easiest place in the BR area to get it done at? and does BR do "emisions tests" on bikes? if so I'm guessing a slipon exhaust would not pass an emisions test since the catalytic converter on bikes is in the stock canister? What about in ascension parish? (My bike and my DL are registered in Jefferson so I shouldn't need the emisions test)?

Dealers used to be able to just go down to a local state inspection place and get them under the dearers name....But nay nay that was tooo fing easy.....last couple of years only the retailed owner can.......now only half of all new bikes ever get a brake tag........unless it's a Harley....then it automatically comes with a break tag on the tank....
