Jeremy Aucoin 28, Husband and father of two young children. He was registered as "crazy train" on rocketmadness.com. I met Jeremy last year, through a friend. I needed some new tires mounted on my bike, but didn't have the extra money to get it done. My friend told me that he knew someone that worked on bikes at his house. My friend gave Jeremy my phone number. Jeremy called me up and said that he would take care of the tires for me. He made arrangements for his wife to get the tires from me. A few days later, after work, he met me at my house and I followed him to his house and he mounted the tires for me. I spent a couple hours that day talking to Jeremy. I remember that his kids were playing in the work shop while Jeremy was working on my bike. I remember that I was impressed by the patience Jeremy showed with his kids. He would stop and take time to play with them when they would "get in the way" of his work. During those couple of hours I remember thinking that Jeremy was genuinely a nice guy. Over the last year I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jeremy on a few occasions. Every time I saw him he was smiling and appeared to be friends with everyone in the room. I don't know what else to say, I consider it a privilege to have met Jeremy. I know that he will be missed.
Ok, for the details of the crash. Jeremy was on his way home from work in Morgan City. He rode this bike to work everyday rain or shine. He was traveling north on Hwy 309 (Bruley RD). We are not sure why but he left the roadway to the right and struck a tree. No skid marks. No witnesses. Not sure how fast he was traveling. I spoke to the first deputy on scene and he said Jeremy was gone when he arrived. I'm not going to get into his injuries. I forgot to mention that his wife works for the Sheriff's Office, Therefore it was pretty hard on alot of people that responded to the crash.
Please keep his family in your thoughts.
Thanks for the thoughts.
