I want something that is nice looking as long as rugged and versatile. Something that will take a beating. I really like the looks of the Givi products, but I don’t see them surviving much of a impact. What do you guys use? Opinions, suggestions from your experiences.

I give the Givi cases a big thumbs up! Me and my VFR landed hard on a side case. Only minor abrasions to the case. Completely protected the bike.

Where are you Chappy, I just bet you have an opinion re: Givi's ruggedness!!

A guy on Adv rider posted up a site for some Pelican cases, I am not so sure just yet. I am going to be a wise consumer on this one.

best idea I've heard is to get some 20 mm army surplus ammo cans, I have a couple, paintthem black or silver or chatreuse for that matter and mount those suckers. Heavy but if you want room and bullet proof bike protection...at cheap, it's the ticket

I put A SW-motech rack with pelicans bags on the Wee over the weekend.
I used the pelican 1430's .... looks are ok, but bags are small. My neighbor (KTM) has H/B Gobi's on his 950. We tried them on my rack and looked good. The bags fit perfect on the motech rack. If I were to get bigger I would go with the Gobi's or 1550 Pelicans. I will post some pics soon.

I think Givi has the best looks. But if you want reliability that is tough as nails and almost indestructible? I would go with the Jessie brand.

Brian,
You've seen my topcase at Teds for that wrench day. Check out the Mexico report for some more pics of all of my luggage. I like it a lot. I don't think there are any more sturdy racks then the hepco stuff. The boxes come on and off in
10 seconds but are locked extremely securely.

I like my Happy Trails on the GS. They allowed me to specify a smaller box than their standard GS panniers (9" vs 10.5"). It looks like they have several different boxes to choose from on the Strom.

The only thing I do not like about them is that they have no built in lock. Instead, there are points to place your own padlocks. This hasn't been a huge issue issue for me, but others might have a problem with this. I will say that when I do need to use the padlocks, the lids are quite secure.

Thanks for the input guys. After a few weeks of deep thought I have decided to go with Givi. They should be here in about a 5-7 days.

I haven't ordered the rack yet. There is one that I am watching on ebay. If I dont get that one I think im going to go with the same system that you have.

Juice

No, I went with the flat black. That way they will work with any color bike in the future.....

Oh man! Too bad Kevin didn't save his tackle box...you'd be gettin' all the ladies!!!The tackle box is available! Since I am a married guy I was forced to take it off after I bought Kev's KLR. The chicks were all over me and the wife was getting possed!

The Givis cases are incredibley tough. My maxia survived a 100 foot tarmac and gravel slide that totally ate my right side panel and ground through the clutch cover, putting a hole in it. The Givi only sustained mild scuffing and actually performed like a frame slider, protecting the rear of the VFR including the Two Brothers. The one thing you need to do is take the mounts th a welder and have the spot welds beefed up with a real bead weld. That is GIVI's only weakness in my opinion.
