Added one of these to my new KLR last night, I will take pics of it mounted and the easy install. Good for powering GPS, Cell Phone, and just about anything. Thought some of you might be interested. Bought the plug at AutoZone for $9.99, and took a whole 10 min to mount it. I will enclose a link to the plug if anyone is interested. Mounted it to the European city lights (not installed in USA, therefore you have a set of wires behind your headlight assembly).

Thanks for the info Mr. Trash, I was unaware of the extra leads behind the headlight. Do you know off hand if they are on the headlight circuit/fuse or are they separate?

I would say seperate, however I am not 100% sure. I will try to find somthing on that. I have read so many forums with people running all kinds of junk on them. And I would assume that they were seperate, however I will have to double check on that.

Thanks, I guess I could do it the easy way and short them and see if the headlight goes out. :D

thanks for the pic. i haven't mounted mine yet. i was considering a lower mounting point. but i like the way you have done yours. i hadn't considered the number of uses that i would have for the outlet. so far the only purchase i've made for it is a small air compressor from wally world. so, i figured a low mounting point for the outlet might be best.

I know a fella that took the plastic case off his little auto compressor and mounted it under the plastic just under the gas tank. He just screws in the hose and flips the switch. not visable at all. If your interested I'll see if I can get some details/pics from him.

Scooter.

I used the same part (Casco brand at Walmart/HiLo, but identical to this Bell) for my 12v source. GPS is always hardwired, though. My 12v socket was simply zip-tied to the frame tubing right under my left thigh (vert member supporting the kickstand safety contraption on the KLR). On the Ducati I zipped to the tube frame near the steering head. It works surprisingly well, if you don't want to bore holes or alter screws, etc. I direct wire to the batt and fuse the +12v leg.

I'm not adept at posting photos here, but I have one on SLDR Y! group.
