12GS final drive oil change

Ole JimVonBaden has come through once again and put together a great step-by-step pictorial "how to" on changing out the final drive fluid. Now that BMW has come to their senses and decided that there is no such thing as a "lifetime" fluid, all of the 04-06 models are required to have their final drive fluid changed at the next service. I got the message today from James at Heberts that the bike is ready and everything went smooth, including the f/d oil. I'm feeling that I'll probably start doing this myself every 10k-12k miles though.

Heh BMW is funny about their service recomendations... you know with their cars... oil changes were recomended at the 3-5k mile mark... but low and behold as soon as they offer FREE maintnance for 4 years 50k miles they bump the oil change interval up to 15k miles... but yet the same oil is used (a Castrol synthetic blend not even a full synthetic)... But yeah I never trust those intervals... or that lifetime fluid crap...
