My "Thanks" go to Juice and also all the members... that are going to put up with me!
The near past has been filled with a lot of traveling... in my youth throughout Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa spanning my free summers... I was fortunate... It was my schooling toward humanity, the different ethnicity of foods and the locals in their outmost intimate lives. Coming to the States at the age of 24 the bug did not quit. We live in such a vast country... I don't think many realize it!... There is so much to see and explore... each State just about has its own ethnicity, charm, food, customs it seems like... and again, not luck this time, but the desire made me customize my life in a fashion allowing me to take six months vacation per year, and, either sailing, as I lived on a sailboat for 28 years, or ride... can I say everywhere? Pictures where taken... many people have been logged in the address books... but never written about it... and I always thought what a shame it was, as in the meantime I was writing for other Magazines mainly on the subject of... food (http://www.personalchefara.com/press.html)... my other passion... To make a long story short... a personal family tragedy made me re-evaluate my life and LIFE in itself... this one way journey we are all on is short... and yet... there was so much left to see... possesions have never been important to me... I always thought, a good book, some music, a ride, my buddy Spirit, good food and upmost as I call them "good people" would make the core of my life... everything else truly is quite replacable and useless to a certain degree!
So not too long ago, after trying the "house" life as I call it... for 16 months and finding out it was just an impass for me... I set up to live on the road... quite different from past trips... this was and is to be a Journey... there is no time limitation but my health... no destination but the weather... and the exploring done and written in much more depth than ever. I see things that most do not see... meet people that most do not see... and you will read it all... we all have thoughts daily... we all do, I hope, wonder what in the world we are doing here... it will be written... and what a better vehicle to propel us forward then the motion of a motorcycle!
My favorite living times are always "primitive camping"... and as I am getting the logistics worked out on this Journey I know that will happen soon, East, West... Norht... the vast lands... the Rallys... the Sunday rides as I have experience it with some of you... cooking on the road recipes that I would love to share... this life sounds so promising and sharing with the hopes to pass on some knowledge? and at the same time learn from you all... entertainment?... Maybe Europe in a couple of years?... Africa again?... not in a hurry... one of my main goals right now is to demonstrate that right in your "backyard"... many adventures can be experienced! YOU also can do this...
And besides all this... I also wanted to have a true purpose helping others...
I have seen too many families broken down by a rider's injury... and always felt helpless toward them besides fixing them a meal or moral support...
I figured that with a support of $1 a month per rider through the purchase of a T Shirt yearly... we can make an incredible difference... how many riders are out there?... that is such a low amount compared to what everyone spends on gas... cable TV... cell phone and so many other sometimes truly luxury items... I am not a business man!... But my dream is to make an incredible difference and someday share the credits with all of you...
Please help me out... I have never let anyone down in my life and not ready to change now!!!
So... getting ready today for the Swamp Scooter Rally and its experiences... which you can read in my Blog (http://www.theoasisofmysoul.typepad.com/)...
Again... I will learn al lot from you all... having to stay East till May... turn me on to some of the local spots... your secret place... my writing might open up the road for others to experience.
You be well... and thank you for having me on your Forum.

I am now wondering about Chucks perceptions and visuals... Oh! I have some visuals allright... up close and personal with the sugar cane fields...
Juice should not be the only one with sadistic followers in quest of crashes...
Right in his footsteps I now have my own!... and you can read about it all tomorrow... Spirit and I are fine... Team Redneck already has the rig apart... parts ready to be ordered... and I should be back on the road in about 12 days or so... luckilly he is only going to work for one week this time... and I have been told to stay in the kitchen where I belong and not to adventure myself again through mechanical projects!...
Till then... and, yes, it was a great Rally, with awesome people and food...
Be well... Ara

Hey Ara

Glad to hear that you are well. It all Juices fault. That dude has the worst luck then any I have ever seen. 3 crashes, 3 broke legs, struck by lighting. I would stay away from him if I were you........ Are you aware of "The Race for 50 States"? You might just be a prime Candide for such a contest. click the link below

That would have been a great thrill a couple years ago!... Living on the road is a much slower pace, more in depth into the areas stopping by...
With some hope you will continue this into next year, or start a new one... would be cool once some funds roll in for H.I.R.E to pass it on...
It is a much nicer way to have funds ready for a cause instead of scrambling in time of needs to raise such funds... but that concept will take time... and that is OK...
Be well... Ara
