ok so someone tell me why you would WANT low profile tires.

as stated in another recent thread, i bought my car in april. yes, i talk about her a lot, but thats because i just mailed off my last payment and its the only thing of value ive ever owned. qwer

so today i hit a big pothole on one of our lovely louisiana roads. next thing i know, my cars pulling to the right hard, so i get out and look, and sure enough im ridin on a flat.

little background- about a month after i got my car- i had a screw in one of my tires and a slow leak in another, so i replaced two tires since they were basically new, i wanted them to stay that way.

then in about july, greg was driving my car and leaving from sullivans one night there was some kind of drain cover in the road and he ran over them and that was two flats right there. then to complicate things we couldnt get the lugs off and even the shop had to keep it overnight to get a person with a special tool over to do it. (super torque wrench over there at the place i bought the first two replacements i suppose)

but anyway, back to the moral of the story- i called dad to get him to come help me get the spare tire out the trunk- i cant lift it out by myself its a full size and its positioned in there real tight. so he came, got it out and made me change it myself- so I can make sure i can do it in a pinch if theres no man around... cept for the lifting it out the trunk thing asdf

so ive replaced 5 tires in 7 months. Bable12

no wonder i always had an SUV before ugh!! with what im saving in gas im making up for in tires!

I lie- i got smart after the last two and bought the road hazard plan on those tires so theyll fix it for the cost of mount and balance :)

Why people want low profile tires...

1) they want to have better cornering and handling characteristics for road racing or thinking there FAst and the Furious.

2) They look cool, brings out the wheel more.

3) Some people with static drops on there vehicles will run a lower profile to lower there veh. even more.

I run alittle bit bigger tire on my lil bucket because Billet Aluminum wheels will bend easy.

Keep those tires inflated to the right pressure. Especially with low profile tires, I would bet this causes more flats than anything else.

My wife used to have a Chrysler Crossfire with ultra low profile tires. She got flats, but, sure enough, when I checked the other tires after getting a new tire, they were all low.

yea i like having the feel of them and all but shit if i dont have to replace them a ton! and i have to be like super careful on curbs and speedbumps and stuff. i mean im not gettin stuck on the speedbumps or anything ridiculous

but i guess i just miss having a big ol car i could drive less carefully in, well you know what i mean- so i dont damage my car when i go over bumps...
