I picked up a new member of the GS family this weekend. I decided it was time to give the F5650GS a big brother...

yes sir. this is my ol' steed. ditto on the congrats Steve. i know you will love her like i did. not to mention, you will be able to give her the additional love i couldn't. it broke my heart to see her sitting and not being ridden like she was meant to be.

man, she was home less than a day and you already had her undressed? you could have at least bought her a full tank of gas first!

No time for the formalities, I had to get the farkles going! My girlfriend came out to the garage and told me she thinks I keep buying bikes just so I can put stuff on them. I said, "Yea, what's your point????"

I would have the TT panniers on by now, but they shorted me 4 bolts Head Bang . That is the same problem I had with my TT fuel tanks on the 650.

I know you hated to see it go, but if you ever feel like taking a ride let me know. I have enough bikes in the stable to accommodate a guy who is in-between bikes.

Well, I have to get used to not being able to touch the ground before I am ready to get her in the dirt. I feel like I did the first few times I rode the ST1100 with the Corbin seat on it. The trick is to just never stop.

I am working to get the F650GS ready for some dirt time in December (TT39 kit installed). I head out to Chicago the first week of December, but then I have 2 weeks of vacation.

Are you recovered enough for dirt riding already?

I have broken a many of bones in my life but nothing comes close to the pain of a joint fracture. It will be out of the game for a good 6-8 weeks.

I got the GPS mounted on the new bike yesterday. I just happened to have an extra TT locking, shock-absorbing GPS mount lying around. I prefer the locking mounts so I can go inside a restaurant to eat without taking the GPS off or worrying about it being stolen. Now I just have to get the XM radio/weather ant. installed.

I couldn't finish the pannier frame because TT didn't send me all of the bolts.

I also increased the race sag, so I can actually get one foot on the ground when I stop. That gives me much more confidence on the bike (and it is one awesome bike). I think I may ride this one to Chicago in December.

Damn Steve.....great minds must think alike. I'm about to purchase the 376c myself!!! I may get the non-locking mount though since paranoia runs deep when I'm away from the bike and I just pull the unit off.

You will love the 376C. I moved up from the 276C to get the weather and radio. The weather radar has saved my butt at least once. I came through some seriously bad weather one time, but the radar allowed me to skirt around a potential tornado by taking some back roads. The stuff I rode through was terrible and I was tempted to get off the road, but I could see on the radar that if I rode 10 more miles I would be out of the rain altogether.

I love the 376C! My only complaint is that XM Radio doesn't carry LSU football, so during football season I end up carrying the Sirius too .

My TT mount is the shock-absorbing kind because I found that the GPS gets hammered on the F650GS when riding off-road. When I ran on batteries, the unit would sometimes shut off due to the vibration (common with the GPS V). I may not need this much protection with the 1200, so I may change it to the smaller locking mount later.
