O.K., so I spent my weekend in Hammond at the MSF course...for those of you that have been riding or not and haven't taken it, I highly recommend it! It was so much damn fun! At first I was pretty nervous about riding, well, hell, now I'm more than ready! It's only $100 which included the bike you'll be using and the instructors name is Ed Patterson...the coolest guy ever! If anyone needs the info, I'll gladly e-mail it to you! It was a blast and worth every penny!

Well, I would rather spend $100 for a dept.of Ed. class than $275 class to ride on a hog! hahhhahaa!!! (bandanna tying 101)asdf
Training was at the University Center.

Mark and I both finished the Instructor course with Ed and are pending our paperwork. Ed is a great teacher and instructor trainer!
FYI, the MSF course may become a required course item for M/C endorsement by the state soon from what we are hearing, so if you know anyone interested have them sign up ASAP with either the State Department of Education (Runs the MSF courses in Louisiana) or the RidersEdge courses at HD.
They are the same MSF Course content, the only difference being that the State course is 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and the RidersEdge course is 5 days, so is a lot more relaxed for some people. The MSF course completion card issued on successful completion of either course is good for a discount on most motorcycle insurance plans.
Even if you have an endorsement and have not taken the course, consider it... Stuff you hear there may just save your life. Cool12
It will most assuredly make you a better car driver too!

The Harley shop in BR has an all-female class. My mother took it but got sick and did not finish. But she did say she was less intimidated because she was in a class with all women. They used the Buell Blast for the class.
My dad took the Harley class when he got his Goldwing. He loved it, but for the money I would do the MSF. Plus, if you are a member of the Honda Riders Club you can attend for free Cool12 .
I had class with ed and it was a blast. Althought it was raining when we learned how to ride. it was quite an experience.

It should be but if that's the case then they (the state) need to open up some more classes!!! When I went to get my Endorsement there wasn't anywhere in New Orleans offering the class! (last Nov/Dec) I took a 2 day course in Houston at Awesomecycles for like $180. The offered it on Sun/Mon during MLK weekend.
The way you get your endorsement in this state without the MSF is retarded. You need Insurance to Register a bike, you need an Endorsement to get insurance, you need to get your bike to the DMV to take the "test". HOW THE FUCK DO YOU GET THE BIKE TO THE DMV? I asked someone at the DMV (Baton Rouge Head Office) and she said I was the FIRST person to ever ask that Question.
I've got nothing but good things to say about AwesomeCycles. The class is designed so that even someone who's never seen a motorcycle before let alone ridden one can learn to ride.
FL just passed this law, but when I lived there 6yrs ago, I tried to take an MSF class at Daytona Beach Community College, the waiting list was over 5 MONTHS long and you had to pay $195 up front!!! It was too damn expensive for my broke ass (College student) and I didn't have my own bike.

I took the experienced riders MSF class in Aug '05 in Denham Springs. Very hot, but a great experience. (BTW dual sports are great tools on the riding part). I highly recommended it to anyone.
Fazergirl took the Rider's Edge at H-D of BR a few years ago & really enjoyed it.

Is there a website / listing somewhere that shows all the MSF courses available in South LA?
I'm looking for the experienced Course but there seems to be nada here in NOLA.
I did the MSF course in TN while visiting family. Had a great time with very good instructors (one looked like Alyssa Milano). Since I still had my TN license it has a 'M' endorsement now.

When I took my test in MS, the trooper made me show her the trailer that I used to bring the bike to the DMV. From what my friends have said, the MS troopers will write you a ticket right there in the parking lot if you say you rode the bike up there. Of course, you can get a permit by taking the written test, and then you can ride your bike to the DMV if there is a licensed driver in a car behind you qwer .

Uhhhh, the State MSF course I took with Ed was only Sat. & Sun. starting at 8am both days and ending pretty much at 5p on both days...
It was cold in the mornings, but we were in class, we did our range time after lunch, so it wasn't bad at all!
But like I said, the shit was a blast and yes, there were people there that hadn't even sat on or even started up a bike, and by the end of the course, they were riding like they'd known how all along! And I would also have to agree with the fact that I'd rather pay $100 for the state course than over $200 for a HD course, there's a no-brainer....

which of the Honda's were you riding? Shadow perhaps? I suspect you like the upright seating position, instead of being folded like a pretzel on a sport bike !

You might not want to sit on my R1200R ! It will ruin you. I just got back from a 40 miler over on river road to get almost up to the 600 mile point for the first service. Heated grips are great on cold days!!!!rocket.ride

At least you can get a Learners Permit in MS, here No Such thing Exists. I had one when I lived in FL, just go down to the DMV take the Written and they give you the Permit. I can't even remember if I had to pay anything for it, maybe $10 at the most.

Dude, I'm so frickin' serious! I loved the bikes we were on at the range...you need to come over and let me take yours for a spin....I'm trying to convince Joey to let me trade in my bike for a cruiser...what better than a sportster! It's such a comfortable ride! So with me saying that, Joey says an sv650 would suit, but man, I want me a harley! :) Craig, we could so start a biker gang...we'd need our own forum...:D

you can take my SV for a spin if you want to see how one rides. I only have one rule... if you wreck it you buy it.
Mine is the naked version and is more of a dirt bike (upright) riding position than the "S" version which is closer to your F4i
