If you really want to give it a test, you should ride with me to Chicago next weekend. Looks like there is a cold front coming through and the projected high temps will be in the upper 30ies with snow showers.

Which brand of heated gear did you choose? Did you get the vest alone or the works? I have been using the Widder vest and chaps for a few years, but I ordered the arm chaps this week for the ride north.

I also gave up on the motorcycle gloves and bought some Mountain Hardwear mountain climbing gloves today. I guess I'll see how that works out next week, too.

Steve, I'd jump on this ride in a heartbeat, but I'm going to have cousins up from Texas next weekend staying at the house. Be safe up there.

I got the WarmNSafe heated liner to go under my Kilimanjaro II. With the fleece liner in the Kili I was good down to about 30 degrees, but I figure I can push it a bit further with the heated stuff. The WarmNSafe feels extremely high quality and it works VERY well so far. I rode last night in the 40's and I still couldn't turn the heat troller all the way up. I'm going to start looking for a heated pants liner most likely. For my hands I do pretty good with just gore-tex winter gloves and the heated grips.

It's going to be cold as a well diggers ass in these parts in the next few days. I ain't scared. If you are scared say you are scared?

We will have to get together this winter and do a ride somewhere. I like riding in the cold much more than riding in the Southern heat and humidity. I can buy stuff to keep me warm, but there is no escaping the heat in August!

I have always heard good things about the Kilimanjaro, but never knew anyone who actually wore one. I am thinking of getting one for my girlfriend. It sounds like you are happy with yours.

In my humble, but very accurate, opinion.......it's the perfect jacket. From Mexico to Glacier, 100 degree heat to 30 degree cold, it's been wonderful. The venting system is perfect for when you need it, and when it's velcro'd up it can withstand an all day downpour and keep you bone dry. The only downside to it is because of all the velcro, the pockets are pretty much useless. But yea, like you, I'd MUCH rather ride in the cold than in the swealtering heat.
