I've tried sending my videos to Putfile.com and YahooVideo.com but the picture quality gets totally destroyed, and the upload process takes forever. I'm also limited to 100MB file size.

So I want to start a website for my videos but I know absolutely nothing about it. It doesn't have to be a free service. I'm sure that anything free is going to come with major limitations but will it be a problem with huge video files?

My internet service is through Cox Cable. Recommendations?

Thanks. I'm available whenever you are. It looks like I'm going to need some new hardware too, and I've got some advice on that.

Here are a couple of short clips from Yahoo Video. The picture quality is really poor but it's not the equipment's fault. The playback on the camcorder is super clear.

There are lots of things to consider when starting a site.. you first have to have some kind of idea as to how much traffic your site will receive... if you are just showing some videos to some friends you wont have a problem but a major site receives a LOT of traffic and most internet providers charge for it...

If its just a personal site I don't remember how much Cox gives you but for free with your cox account they give you a certain amount of storage and bandwidth... you can set it up here: https://batonrouge.cox.net/cci/internettoolswebspace

Dude, I haven't worked in a almost a month. My schedule is wide open but week nights would be better. Just for kicks get me one of your vids and let me host it for you. I'm curious to see how it comes out and how big we can go......

Sounds like a plan. I've got over 2 hours of offroad film and some dual-sport action too.

I tried two different settings on the capture (bit rate). One option was some unknow rate that was identified as "best for my computer". The other option was something like "large movie". With the first setting, I captured 23 minutes of video and the file size was 88mb but the picture quality was horrible. The action in the image was not fluid and the image was fuzzy. With the second bit rate setting, "large movie", 2 minutes of film ended up as a 116mb but the quality was really good. The problem I have is that my computers at work and at home are too slow. I need to find a faster computer, and a good compromise on the bit rate (quality). What bit rate do you recommend?

I tried a slightly slower bit rate (3mbs) with a smaller picture size, and a 2.25 minute video is a 38mb file. Of course Yahoovideo.com still butchers the video. I think that this is as good as it's going to get on Yahoo or Google:
