IT'S REALLY MY 2003 R1....I'M A YAMAHA MAN.
Yet another makeover of my bike. I love to tinker but refuse to make them look too pretty because it hurts my feelings even more when I have little bo bo's...

Looks good
Dito I've always had a soft spot for flat black. Manic, do you still do side work on forks and the like?

Yeah, forks are about the only thing I still do.

That looks sweet man. I have to ask, are the carbon fiber frame covers for looks or are they hiding some "bo bos"?

The tail on that R6 is fugly. Why is the top so flat? I much rather the suki tail on the R1

The carbon fiber covers do hide a big bo bo on the right side of the frame. I purchased the bike totaled in 2003. I have had several editions of the same bike. This is just my latest project. I have done a LOT of work to this bike and I'm sure the trend will continue.
Shakey, HELL NO. The tail did not just bolt up. I cut the sub frame in half, narrowed it 3 inches, bolted it together and covered the bottom and sides with sheet metal. I then had to remount all the electronics. I also had to modify the tail I purchased with a cutting wheel and grinder.
It's not a perfect job. With time, I could make it look factory, but with my limited metal working tools, this will do for now.
Thanks for the replies peeps. I'm happy with the results for now. I wish the 03 R1 didn't have such a FUGLY tail section stock.

Looks awesome!!!
At first glance on your first pic,,,,the GSXR tail looks short and it made it appear that you had a stretch swingarm. But I could never, never see you trying that one.
I love the black look also.
