I recently bought a 99 KLR through this board and was hoping for some advise. I want some luggage for it, I have a small bungee cord tail bag, but I was looking at http://www.packratadventuregear.com/
emailed him and haven't heard back on availability and if it'll fit a 99 (says '00-06). Any other other options that don't cost more than about $250-$300?
also what can I do about the headlight? It's way to dim and I'd like more light but don't want to put a larger strator in, or spend a whole bunch of money on it. Thanks -Nick

Welcome Big Nick. Glad to have you aboard. Who's KLR did you buy? I have a set of soft-bags that I bought for my KLR that I no longer need. You are more then welcome to them............

Nick, with only 35-50 extra watts to play with your limited on what you can use
These guys offer a self contained HID that has 3 times the light output over halogen for any given measure of Watts

I got the bike from a guy named Alan up here outside of Jackson, MS. The ad is still on the front page of the classifieds, I got it for $1900 with all the farkle and then some that he didn't list. Thanks for the offer on the soft bags, but always been kinda leary about the exhaust burning a hole in them, and really like the look of hard bags, just not the price of most of em. I do have a soft tail bag that can handle most of my around town stuff and probably even overnight trips.
I like those HID lights, gonna have to check out where I can mount one in the daylight. I do have extra holes on my Renthal bars for mirrors (I could mount 4 mirrors total haha) maybe I can figure out how to stick on on the left hand side that way it'll turn with the bars and I can adjust it while riding.
Another way to brighten the night is putting in a
Sylvania silverstar bulb
Much brighter, same wattage,
altho some have noted it lasts half as long as a stock bulb
I put one in my 99 KLR and could see the difference
