Since it looks like I'm back into replacing chains from time to time again, I figured it would be beneficial to just go ahead and get my own tool. I've heard there are basicly two different tools that spread the pin different ways. One uses a center punch and opens the end of the pin to hold it in place, where the other "mushrooms" the head of the pin creating a smoother hold and a better lip to safety wire the master rivet link as needed. Anyone familiar with these two different methods? Also, any suggestion on tools?

motion pro makes a clamp tool that works really well. It makes the mushroom style crimp.

I have never seen safety wire on a master link... any one got a picture of that?
That motion pro tool is the way to go... just make sure to buy a couple of spare pins for the learning curve.

Yea, I think that unit is exactly what I'm looking for, thanks Snipe-Br. I've got some extra chain in the shop I can practice on.

They make a tool for this? Whow! Wish I would have had one back in the day when I raced MX and had 3 wheelers and stuff....
