So I got snookered into helping a friend with his new Buell. Anything I need to know on changing the oil on these things?
BTW, I rode it and hate it. I'll stick to the KLR. Or maybe a V-strom one day.
Kenny will vouche for its weirdness.

HAHAHAHA.... Cuz I told him, NO!
I bet you have to remove the exhaust system to do it... HAHAHAHAHAHA...
Charge him for labor and let's put the money toward a tire changer.

Be very careful when replacing the oil plug and tightening it. Easy to strip the threads out over-torqueing the plug.

P.S. : What don't you like about the Uly? The usual gripe is that it is too tall, and the fan is too loud. Alternative gripe is usually the heat on the right thigh.
The other major area people tend to complain about is the suspension, generally because it has to be set to a specific rider's weight and seems to be sensitive to proper settings.

All of the above and the fact that the thing is just too abrupt. It might make an ok runabout and semi-decent touring rig but I wouldn't dare take that thing off road. Well, maybe I would. I guess I'm just too used to bikes that don't have weird problems. We changed the oil in in and found a sizable bolt in the fairing. No idea where it came from.

Hold on to the bolt. If it really worked loose, it's funny how you can discover its purpose some time later...qwer

If you are referring to the chin fairing in front of the muffler, it might be a muffler bolt. Otherwise check the engine mounts!qwer

yeah, it was a big bolt so there were only a few places that I could see that it would be used. when the motor (inevitably) falls out he'll know ;)
