I got Chelsea's boyfriends 05 CBR 600 RR in my shop. After sitting up for about 4 months it will not turn over. I just get a rapid clicking sound from the starter solenoid. Acts like the battery is not charging but the battery checked out to be good.
I had this same problem with my old 94 900RR. It ended up being a loose connection on the solenoid. No such luck on this Honda.
My guess is that the starter is stuck or the solenoid is bad. I heard that you can by pass the solenoid with a screwdriver using a jump method. Anybody got a detailed explanation of how to do this?

Check to see if all of your electrical connections are corrosion free and tight, The clicking indicates you don't have enough juice in your battery to activate the starter motor, so the solenoid just cycles.
If that's the case, and if the battery will not hold a charge, then you have charging problems, which might mean a new R/R (regulator-rectifier). That's been a weak component on hondas since forever.

Did you check volts are amps on the batt.? Volts will check out good, while it won't have enough amps to trun the motor and or activate the selenoid and allow the engine to turn over.

I just replaced the solenoid on my John Deer. I diagnosed it by jumping it with a screw driver. Four wires, two fat and two skinny. One fat wire goes directly to battery positive and the other to the starter motor. just bridge the two large terminals that the fat wires connect to with a scredriver with a well insulated handle. Becarefull not to contact anything else with the screwdriver, especially the two small wires or they will fry and maybe take out other stuff!

You can get a remote starter button from autozone, cheap... safer than accidently welding a screw driver to some other delicate component...
Funny you mention the John deer solenoid... I assume you had an intermttent not starting issue.. I have been chasing one too, with mine... swapped out the old solenoid for a new one.. the new, oem solenoid is bad too... I said the heck with it, and went the remote starter button route..

My original solenoid was intermittently bad from the begginning. After 5 years it finally crapped out altogrther. The replacement works great. Sorry about your bad luck.
