View Full Version : The New Scoot
In an effort to get my new wife (aka - the old girlfriend) onto two wheels, we picked up a new Vespa yesterday. I felt it was overpriced, although the build quality seems excellent and it is a ton of fun. If she continues to enjoy it and learns to ride it, then it will be money well spent. If she discovers two wheeling just isn't for her, then I have a sweet Vespa.
A win-win in my mind!

Sweet. I wish I would have went that way with my wife. I got a new Honda that just sits in the stable. Congrats to the wife, may she grow and prosper with this little machine.

We rode two-up to the Quarter last night, then she spent an hour or so in a parking lot. Baby steps until she gets an endorsement or takes MSF. She was all grins yesterday - hopefully that excitement will last.

I learned to ride on something that looked exactly like that except red, a Vespa 90. That was on the streets of New Orleans, about 1966.

I need to ask, without sounding rude of course to all of those vespa lovers out there, what is the big deal about a vespa?! Looks like a regular 'ol moped to me.....

Actually, I am no Vespa lover, I just have fond memories of scooting around NO with a cute babe on the back. But it is not a moped at all, the shape is somewhat similar but mopeds have peddles.

Apparently no more 2 strokes for the time being. According to the salesman (I know, I know...) they are only selling four strokes, although I am not certain why.
Also worth noting, Vespa New Orleans will soon become Vespa & Triumph of New Orleans! And apparently after that, there is a chance it will become Vespa/Triumph/Ducati! I'll find out more this weekend when we stop by the store. Lets all hope that they are as liberal with test rides on motorcycles as they are with scooters.
