Story currently is that the bike (H-D Cruiser) had passed a car, and entered a curve hot, pressed into the turn and scraped hard since there is not much clearance for leans necessary for that speed. Witness accounts seem to indicate that driver hit brakes or came off throttle causing a wobble and loss of control resulting in an agricultural experience. Drive ok with minor scrapes, his wife went into a mailbox post and suffered shattered a clavicle and broken neck. She has been having a tough time, so prayers welcome.

On top of that, a genius State Trooper went to the hospital and arrested the husband while in the emergency room worrying about his wife, apparently for vehicular negligent injury and failure to maintain control. What a prick !

Moral to HD and other cruiser drivers: Take a MSF Experienced Rider course and learn what happens when you lean hard and scrape parts (mostly nothing other than sound effects) and how to properly react to the noise and being too hot in a curve. Very inexpensive course worth every penny if it saves this kind of accident and injury.

Thanks. I couldn't get any info on this one. No names known yet I suppose. I've been asking around but with the new privacy laws it's hard to find out anything.

X2. New one on me. Off road excursion is what I previously used. While working wrecks with the fire dept., we have a few different names but they are a bit callous for the average individual. They would think we don't care .... but truth is it our way of coping.

A-freakin-men.

I was on a poker run with several cruiser riders last weekend. Picture this: Me, Uly, ATGATT. Six other guys on cruisers, four pillions, average gear was death bucket, shorts, halter top/wife beater and sandals.

They kept asking me how I could ride in the heat with chaps, jacket & gloves.

Anyway, on the last turn before we got home, the guy in front of me on my left starts swinging WAY wide (This is a 25 MPH left at an intersection that we managed to catch the light green.) I wonder WTF and back off a bit. He promptly drives the thing into the curb. I visualize a spectacular highside and lock 'em down so as to miss the forthcoming carnage. I didn't want to zig left because of the guy behind me. Once I see that he kept it upright I check behind me and the guy that was to my left had also run wide for some reason and I watched him hit the curb in almost the exact spot the first guy did.

Turns out that both of them dragged their left foot boards and got spooked, straightened the bike up, fixated on the curb and plowed in. No harm-No foul as everyone managed to stay upright, but not much fun to be in the middle of that.

That night, I was the only one not bitching about how sunburned he was.Dragonslayer'

I was on a rented H-D Night Train in Florida a few years back and drug the pegs twice. No formal training but as an old dirt bike rider I just paid more attention to the bike than the scraping. Since it didn't seem to get to upset neither did I.

THis little Kawi I have had 1 inch bolts hanging down on the ends of the pegs. I took them off first thing. I don't want anything touching until it HAS to.
