Lucky me!! I won a new DRZ400S, the Grand Prize in the 2006 Suzuki/AMA Dual Sport Ride Series. It was just a random drawing. I rode in the New Blaine, AR ride at Mt. Magazine last September sponsored by the Arkansas Dirt Riders. It was an absolute blast!

Unfortunately, ADR is not sponsoring another ride until 2008 but I think that there's another one in TX this year. There is also a new Adventure Ride Series and Dixie Dual Sport is sponsoring one in AL, I think. The grand prize in that series is a 2007 V-strom.

I'm suprised that it took 5 months to get the bike but it doesn't matter. I got an '07 instead of the '06 advertised. Picked it up today from Lightspeed.

I've owned one before and they're not much different than the DR650 that I already have. So, as soon as the title comes in, she's going up for adoption, and I think I have a buyer.

They are decent trail bikes and very reliable but I thought that my '06 was a little too "buzzy" and uncomfortable on the highway. If I wanted another small dual sport, it would have to be a KTM 525. They're street legal now and have a lot more power and much better handling than the Suzuki. But performance comes with a price. The katooms ain't cheap.

I've been thinking about taking the proceeds to get a different set of wheels for my DR650, maybe a new exhaust system too. When I'm done, it will look like this:
