I've had a few people ask me about riding boots lately and I'm in the market for a new pair myself after this crap...

I found out last Thursday that my left Oxtar Matrix is no longer waterproof since I ripped the sole right off the bottom when it got drug ten feet under a bike. Pffft....damn crappy italian made pieces of sh....anyway. They were comfy enough, so I'm steering towards Oxtars again. For reasons that probably don't need to be explained, I'm looking at getting more of a motorcross design to wear on the GS such as the Oxtar Infinity GTX in the winter, and my straight up Fox Motorcross boots during the summer when I don't mind wet feet as much. I know that one member here just got a set of Infinitys and will be testing them on a full cross country trip soon, so I'm looking forward to hearing how that works out.

Anyway, what boots are everybody using and how do you like them. I'm looking for all aspects here... On the bike, hiking, general walking, hold ups in a get off/crash, looks, waterproof-y-ness-es, breathability, and fit.

I've been looking at these. (http://www.metricbikes-superstore.com/index.php?cPath=2227)

Does anyone have any experience with them?

I just got a pair of Aerostitch Combat Lites. So far they seem pretty cool, but I have just been wearing them around the house breaking them in. Time will tell though.

And a good pair of boots is like a religious chick.... not matter how hard you try you can only stick it in one way....., and if you find the right pair they will last you for ever (should you take care of them). Just depends on your likes and budget... (that logic works for both boots and women).

So far i've had good luck with Tour Master products. I have their Cortech Solution waterproof Road Boot.

Pros: No or very little break in, comfortable.
Shift lever patch.
Easy to shift due to thin sole.
Price.

Cons: Protection not as good as heavier boots.
Thin sole not good for walking very far.

I also have a pair of Icon standard boots that i never use on bike. To thick of sole and stiff to shift with. It took months of wearing them around the house to break them in. But they are so well made i just could not send them back.
And who knows? Maybe some day I'll have a water cooled Harley Davidson Sportster to use them with.

I just got these and love them. Alpinestar recon boots. Lace up to fit funny shaped feet and very supportive.

I got the Alpine Star Effex Gore Tex for riding back and forth to work. They are water proof to the max and they are good to walk in. As far as protection I have no idea...

I used to have those lace up ones and they weren't half as good for walking and I got tired of having to deal with the laces.

I have a pair of Oxtar TCS boots. They are not too radical/Race type. It has saved my foot from being broken from a spill I had a couple of months ago. It was kind of like Ritten acident that happend on his trip to Alaska. Brused the crap out of my foot! The boots are nice for walking off the bike, you have some good range of motion. I purchaced them at NewEnough.com for a good price. Here is a pict with some of my other Gear.http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u71/primo74/Stuff013.jpg

Hands down there is no better boot on the market than Alpinestars. Take a look at what the pro rides wear... the big A (those that are not required by contract to wear a specific brand).

I wear Alpinestars for touring and motocross. I also recently purchased a pair of Alpinestar riding shoes that are nicely vented for summer riding. I really like those when riding the Gold Wing.

I have an earlier version of this boot by Setup:

http://www.newenough.com/boots/waterproof_sport_street_touring_boots/set_up/sunrise_motorcycle_boots.html

The price is right and it's a good boot. Setup has some sort of connection to Sidi. They are waterproof, but not too hot, with protection everywhere you would want it.
