So, a little over a week ago I called up Jesse to see what they had on their scratch and dent rack. Turned out they were absolutely empty due to the BMW MOA rally. Since I had a tentative trip planned to Florida in late August (plus Juice's eventual test flight trip) I wanted to get a set of panniers for mid August.
So, after conversing with them I asked to be put on the wait list for the "Adopt-a-bags" and I told them that if nothing comes in by the first week of August I'd just order a regular set. I made this stipulation because they had no idea when they would be getting their next shipment of bags (and then from there I would have to hope that some of them came back with bad paint jobs or scratches).
So last Thursday (about 4 days after I spoke to them) I get an email that my bags of shipped. I was kinda surprised but then I thought (I wonder if they just shipped a new set of bags because they didn't get any scratch and dents). Today I got them (and bloody hell, why am I consistently the last stop the UPS guy delivers to before he/she goes back to the distribution center...) and sure enough they were scratch and dents. Of course it was really hard to figure out what was wrong with them. Either way I was very happy with Jesse's service...
But I do have a gripe. For the love of all that is holy, someone needs to give them an advanced class on "Writing Instruction Manuals 101". I'll say one thing, installing the mounts or these bags really requires you to be on your toes. It does get your brain cells working, simply because you spend a good bit of time trying to figure out how to perform a task that they give you all of 10 words of advise (and I mean advise because they way they have it worded if you're a "go from point a to point b" you'll have some interesting times ahead) how to do.
Add to that I got rained out while installing them (didn't rain on my but where I set up I didn't plan for the rain splash that started encroaching on my work space). I still have some things I need to go figure out plus I didn't get the right keys for one of the panniers. From what I have heard it shouldn't be too much of a problem to get these items fixed if i call up Jesse. They do fit well and holy moly are these things loud. I knew they were aluminum but boy do they clang like a set of steel drums. If someone is stealing your bags, you'll know it.
