So here's the 2006 FJR that I bought 4 weeks ago with less than 4000 miles on it. I just got back from a trip to Boston and cleaned it up this weekend so here's the pics.

Very nice!! If you just rode to Boston and back.....how does it compare comfort wise to your strom.

Stock seat is no comparison.
I jumped on it at 1:15pm and 600 miles and 2 stops for fuel later I was at the inlaws north of Atlanta. I only got off the bike every ~220 miles for fuel. In other words I was able to ride until I ran out of fuel without stopping on the stock seat. I can't ask for more.
Wind is a non-issue. This bike had a slightly larger CeeBaileys shield than stock. Unless there is rain, I can ride at any speed (yes including triple digits) with my faceshield up. And I can see over the shield at any height if I sit correctly i.e. don't slouch. BTW I'm 5'10" with a 31" inseam. 185lb
This genre of bike really is the best for how I ride. I don't ride around town.
My bike will sit for a month or two and then take off on a 2000-4000+ mile trip. When I get on a bike my first day is always 500-900 miles of slab. But I like to play in the twisties when I get somewhere.
Yea, before you ask, I gave up some of the dirt capability. But like I said in that marathon thread a few weeks ago (yes, I brought it back up Oops ) any bike can do gravel. And I did it over this last trip. Up to 50mph on graded dirt. It's really a non issue. Now, I can't do some of the rougher FS roads that I used to do, but I also have a bike that is much more comfortable for the 1000+ miles of slab that I do on every trip.
I know everyone wonders about the motor.
It's sick. Absolutely sick. There is power everywhere. More than is necessary in any situation. Yes it has "only" a 5-speed. I'm glad for that. This motor doesn't need anymore gears. It turns up less RPMs in 5th than my VStrom geared stock did in 6th for the same speed. If you are in the correct gear for the speed, you just roll on to pass. I didn't downshift to pass once. Not once. It wasn't necessary. You just twist and you're gone. A roll on in 4th from 70-100 is like right now. Seriously fast. And it's nice being able to run a curvy section from 35mph to whatever in 3rd gear and never shift. Really nice.
So there is my little review. qwer
Sorry.

I saw a new 2007 manual clutch in the maroon. Where's that puke smiley?
I really wanted silver, just like when I was getting my VStrom.
And just like then, I saw the blue and just loved it.

There's not really an "OK with the speed" with any of these big ST bikes. They are all blinding fast. Tests have put the FJR and Conny within 3-4 MPH on top end and 2-3 tenths in the quarter. Pretty much down to the rider for acceleration.
Isn't it fun though?

My favorite of all the sport cruisers. There may be one in my garage one day.
