In Mind? North of Baton Rouge. Other than that if anyone who wants to come has a favorite then we can go there. I am game for anything in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Perhaps Alexandria area...

I'll will most likely map out all the campsites then whatever we are close too we can just camp there, or road side camping is an option.

Let me know the detials, I stopped by the backpacker the other day checkin out tents and shit. Guess I need to buy some shit so I can mount gear on the pig! But I am def. up for this. Kistachie national forest has some cool camp grounds. I bet we could find some decent stuff north of BR and in South Miss. as well.

Reminds me of a coworker who was being teased and called an alky because of the amount he drank
He retorted " I'm not an Alcoholic, I'm a drunk.........Alcoholics go to meetings" :D

Heathen?
Been there done that, but more power to ya

Then I read a best seller called "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth"
and decided I didn't like the Heathen retirement plan ;) YMMV FWIW

I was just cleaning out my hall closet the other day and decided to pull out my tent to light a fire under my butt... I used to camp out a couple times a month at the dunes and ride all weekend long.

If ya'll don't mind a chic hangin round, I wouldn't mind goin just to get out of BR for a few days. I have my tent & bbq pit, I can bbq burgers and deer sausage.

I sold my 450R not too long ago so i don't have a bike anymore, but I'd still like to go just for the hell of it. Let me know when ya get some dates finalized.

Sure Welcome one welcome all. The more the merrier! (Plus this means I don't have to pack around beer the way up there if someone would be nice enough to haul that too.)
OK the only place I have been camping in the last 5 years that I could tell you to meet us at is Clear Springs in Mississippi, but... It's a dry county and last time I was there the local law was being an ass about it.
We used to go to Lake Kincaid and "gorilla" camp when I was racing bicycles, but that's been 7+ years. We would just follow dirt roads to some of the peninsulas and camp where we didn't find people. Does anyone know if you can still do that or did they crack down on it? (By gorilla I mean not pay and not camp in a "camping" area.)

Clear Springs is the center of this map:
http://maps.google.com/?ll=31.425001,-90.984993&spn=0.051562,0.076818&t=h

Kincaid is here. The last time I camped here we camped at about the middle of this map:
http://maps.google.com/?t=h&ll=31.263952,-92.60891&spn=0.05165,0.076818&t=h

Hunter camps somewhere around Natchez. I have an email in to him to get some info on it, but I personally have never been there.

There are a lot of areas around Alexandria to camp and ride. Kincaid Lake, Indian Creek, and Camp Claiborne are the best IMO. This Saturday and Sunday we will be joining the big "Party" at Camp Claiborne (aka Forest Hill) to watch the ADR Harescramble. There will be a decent crowd with plenty of motorcyle junkies like me. Saturday is just socializing. Sunday is the race and these guys will be haulin' butt through the woods. The DRZ can't carry enough beer so I'll have to trailer it :D Anyone is welcome to meet us there.

I raced bicycles for a couple of years and Clear Springs was our "home" course. I know the Homochitto forest like the back of my hand. I even know where Big Foot lives...
It used to be very nice then in 2000 they got a new sheriff that decided to start raiding the camp ground and plenety of people quit going.

Rach since you have to drive and cannot ride where would you like to go? Clear Springs (about 1:30 north of BR.) or Alexandria?

It doesn't matter to me...I adjust to my surroundings. :)

I've been to Camp Claiborne a few times, it's got some nice trails to ride. Does anyone know if they ever got around to putting some facilities there? I remember the first time we went up there, got there and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face it was so dark. We always had a blast in Alexandria, once you get tired of hitting the trails you just drive the 6 miles down the road and hit the dunes. Man, I see now I'm gonna have to buy another bike really soon, I'm gettin fever.

Again, doesn't matter, somewhere where there's water to cool off would be nice, a creek or anything of the sort'll work.

Only toilets at Claiborne, I think. However, a short ride from there is the West Kincaid Lake Camping area and they have showers, toilets, level camp sites for trailers or tents, electrical power, potable water or full hook-ups for trailers (all for a fee). Call before you go to make sure everything is open (it should be).

Here is the PLAN:

Meet at 8:30 AM for all those who want to ride the whole day and end at the camping site around 4:00 PM. We are going to camp at the Clear Spring Recreation area in Mississippi. To get to Clear Springs from Baton Rouge go to the Baker Exit of I-110 (Hwy 19) take highway 19 all the way to Hwy 98/84 at Roxie Mississippi. Hwy 19 turns into Hwy 33 at the LA/MS line. Go East on Hwy 98. There used to be a sign dedicating the Hwy to a State Trooper after that sign you would see the small sign for the Clear Springs Recreational Area. You turn south off of Hwy 98 on a poorly ashpalted road. The primitive camping area is about two turns before the gates to the RV camping area. We would like to camp in the primitive area so you don't have to listen to generators hum all night.

We are meeting at 15320 Becky Lee in baton Rouge that is Hunter's house. Clear Springs has creeks and a lake to swim in although I imagine it is really cold this time of year. It also has some really good hiking.

If you want to go and are planning to email me at kenwelshons@gmail.com and I will give you our cell phone numbers.
