About 15 miles of fresh blacktop today in Prairieville. I had no idea that this road even existed. For you locals Turn right onto Alligator bayou road from Bluff Road. There is about 1/2 mile of gravel then it opens up to fresh blacktop and about 10-15 miles of motorcycle Ecstasy. About the first 8-10 miles there is swamp on both sides of the road. The last 3-4 miles there are a few residential areas. It comes out on Nickelson out in St Gabriel. Enjoy

I remember that road. The entire road was gravel back in the day. We use to drink at the Bayou bar. The only place to get a beer on Sunday and farm animals were not restricted from entering the bar. There was Todd Westbroke & Kirk Holder live every Sunday night. I had many of good times in that bar.

my family owns a lot of the land on that stretch; my grandparents and several aunts/uncles/cousins live out there; my parents may be moving out there also. they just paved it for the first time a few months ago. you're right, i've always thought it would be a great road to ride (at least now that it's paved!)

I rode that road the weekend Juice and the dual sport crew went out with the guy on GSX-R to St. Francisville. Watch out for loose gravel in the corners (at least 3 had enough to make you pucker when I rode it) and there are some tight ones out there... lots of fun if you can make it accross the gravel to get started.

I will be sure to try it on my way to work this evening. I know the road but it has been gravel for years.

That's been the state's latest thing since it is broke. Paving all these great gravel roads in the middle of no where. If you liked that one they just did a couple near Frost that are much nicer because they have almost no houses on them. A buddy hit a dog on Alligator Bayou road and went down just before X-mas.

I rode it late yesterday about dusk. Very nice sweeping curves and a few really hard almost 90's that can really sneak up on you. Nice Find Juice

Thanks for the tip Brian. I and two others hit it on our HSTA lunch ride Sunday. Awesome bit of blacktop! Trees were a little close for comfort on a first run but I'll be more comfortable next time. Got chased bya couple crazy dogs but no harm done! Passed a couple Buells going the other way, anybody we know?

That road is also inhabited by a number of kids in cars that use all the roadway using delayed apex turns on those tight 90 degree turns. Beware of sightlines at all turns because of this... I almost got a head-on in my Tahoe from a guy in a VW dune buggy thing several weeks ago power sliding one of the corners. I would have won, but scraping VW junk off my bumper is not really fun, and it was raining too.

Ok, I thought you just meant there was gravel on the road the first half mile. I didn't realize it was an actual rock road. LOL!
Sweet lil road though after that! Good find! Had a couple of pucker moments catching rocks in turns. :D

How about the hard left hander that gets even tighter and leaves you looking at the railing?

Yep. Knew it was gonna be a tight turn when I saw a big metal rail coming up.
Lucked out on that I only had one car get in the way, and was able to pass it right away.
<<<< this woman hates gravel, rock or anything of the sort!!
Tryin to pull out of a gravel driveway....................
RED- "I can't pull out in this gravel, I'll lay the bike down"
Best Friend- "RED u know good & well u r the type that can do anything u believe u can do."
We start to pull out & I purposely laid the bike down, just dropped it (still in the driveway).
They all end up looking at me like I'm crazy.
RED- "Told you I couldn't do it."
Hell I was scared to death, it always scared me when I was on the back of a bike, much less learning to drive through it! Needless to say, they never attempted to make me drive through it again! If I thought I could have, then why would I had gotten someone else to drive the bike to the end of the driveway in the first place!!
Well if they ever pave that area of the road y'all are talkin about, then & only then will I go on it!!

You could handle it. It's not much really. And even if you're that adamant about not doing it, we could start from the Nicholson end, then turn back around when we get to the gravel. :)
Oh well in that case, yep I'd be fine!!
