Before you turn it into a mini motard, you and your Dad need to go ride it in the dirt a little bit. Maybe even make a track day or two on the local mx tracks.

It will give you a huge boost in confidence and in bike control when you start the next season on pavement. You really should get a bit of dirt experience since you have the perfect tool for it.

You dad is welcome to borrow my 250 as long as I still have it.

After three years of racing all over the gulf south, Badger and are being forced to find alternative means if we want to continue his race career. With our local club in financial turmoil and SEMRA allocating their race schedule to only two tracks for the 2010 season, it really puts us Louisiana racers in a bad spot. When I first learned of this news in mid summer my first thought was "Well we will just have to find something that he can ride at NPR" I would really like to get him on a GP bike in the near future. The RS 125 would be a great fit, but im not 100% convinced that he is ready for triple digit speeds just yet.

After a quick search we were able to locate an 05 DRZ SM model. From the factory the DRZ is way underpowered. With a few mods, I think we can shave off some weight and add a little horsepower here and there. I think it will make a great bike for his first "Big track experience". He would never be competitive on the drz but I bet he could embarrass a few of those liter bikes that park in "C" group.

The bike has not been started in over 3 years. It is going to take a little elbow grease to have it ready for NPR next year. Below is a pic of what she looks like now, All of the plastics are stained. The fuel tank is full of rust, the carb is toast, the rear brake caliper is leaking and there seems to be a few electrical gremlins lurking. The brake rotors, battery, sprockets and chain will also all have to be replaced. I will try to update this thread with any progress that we make.

great job on the drz brandon ; at the beggining of the day you were taking it real easy which is what you should have done and you picked your pace up real nice towards the end of the day; after another trackday or two on the drz youll get real comfortable and you should be able to take it out on the dirt section also; its a little heavier than the 150 but i think youll be able to handle the dirt with it ; just pick up the pace a little at a time;
