On Sunday, Bike Week 2006 wraps up in Daytona, Florida, and this year's event will go down as the deadliest ever.
Since the event began eight days ago, there has been more than 164 motorcycle accidents, causing dozens of injuries and killing at least 16 people.
Last year eight people died in motorcycle related crashes during Bike Week.
Police attribute the increase in accidents to warm weather and inexperienced riders.
Bike week attracted more than a 500,000 bikers this year.

I do not make light of any riders death, but common sense people, Use your freaking head.
I was flipping through the channels last night, and what did I see? It's footage from bike week. I see some chick rocking a hard-tail Harley in a bikini high heel boots and no helmet. I'm surprised that the death toll was not higher. And still no helmet law there.

I can remember the first bike week I lived through 8yrs ago; back then FL still had a Helmet law, cops were more "Hands Off" and IIRC there were ZERO fatalities that year.
I lived in Daytona for 6yrs and the the last few bike weeks there were more and more Yuppie bikers and less of the old hardcore bikers. So many of those guys get shitfaced and ride their hog with no helmet on. I can remember seeing several accidents during bike week, and even grey matter splattered all over the Main St bridge. Harley's have become REALLY popular in the last 4-5yrs and old farts that drooled over them for years can finally afford one and buy it having zero riding experience. 75% of those guys could be just as happy on Rebel 250, ride slow, don't go farther than the corner bar and if they do the bike is on the back of the trailer.
The fun of bike week for me is seeing all the boobies, drinking, and meeting crazy characters and seeing some cool bikes.
