Thanks God it was dead!!!

I was returning from Shreveport and I was on I-12. It was about 7:20 pm and raining big time. I was in the right lane doing about 80 mph coming up behind a 18 wheeler when suddenly, there was a dead deer in the middle of the lane. I knew I did not have time to swerve so I ensured the bike was square and braced it with my knees and a death grip on the bars. This would keep the bike from getting out of line (hope, hope). Sure enough it worked. I have jumped many things in my life but this was a first using a deer carcass as a ramp!!! The worst part of it was the dead animal smell that is still lingering on my bike. Guess I've got to wash it!!!

Still to this day, after owning three telelever suspended bikes, that design amazes me!

Rumor Control has it that you were trying to jump the deer and missed (kinda like the berm after you got unstuck):respect:

Was it a paying gig or did you jump that poor dead deer for grins?

Thought the worst when I saw the thread title. I was worried about the bike, don't you know.

A guy did that to a live wild hog on a night run at an FZ1 rally one year. Just like you, he didn't have time to do anything but brace himself. Ran straight over the hog and killed it.

The crew yanked the ramp out just as I got there! Fargon bastages!!!

They said they would pay me but they keep telling me the check is in the mail. What do you think they mean by that?

Once again, apparently I was working with a shoddy crew and they told me the cameras were "shorted out" due to the rain. I swear, I'll never work for Spielberg again.

I love pig hunting! I've never thought of using a bike though!!!

I hate being behind 18 whlrs or any large "visual obstruction" at night. Too &^%$ hard to see far enough ahead.

Know too many people who have hit stuff like the lead sled rider who had a trailer axle assembly "spit " at her from under an 18 wheeler. Totaled the sled but she was OK due to riding gear.
