Race to Historical Markers benefiting Children’s Hospital

Rules:

1. Post photo showing the historical marker and some proof you were there (bike, shirt, or face).

2. Posted individually by each member will count individually for each member who posts for that marker. Markers may be tagged by more than one individual, but markers may not be tagged more than once by a single individual. The most separate markers tagged by an individual wins.

3. $1.00 per marker posted

4. The race starts now and ends December 31, 2008. The pics will be counted and the winner gets a free dinner for two at Ruth's Chris donated by me.

Please post all pics in pictures thread and use the discusion thread for just that. That will make it easier to count the pics in the end. Thanks ahead of time to everyone who participates. Good luck and most of all, have fun!!!

So in this case, a bike is NOT a necessity for the pic to count right?

Once we get going i will create us a Historical Markers web page with a leader board and some form of clickable map . Similar to what we did for the "50 State Race"

I think the rules need to be clarified a bit... to something like the 50 state race ones were... for example: "3. $1.00 per marker posted" = the person who posts the pic has to donate a dollar or who is going to donate that dollar?

Also it needs to be specified that photos must be taken from today's date onward or something to that effect.... refer to the 50 state's rules for reference but I think it needs to be firmed up a bit?

The person who post his/her pic has to pay a dollar for that pic, ie. if I post 10 pictures, I owe $10.00.

Since it started yesterday, Feb. 18th, the pics have to start from yesterday Feb. 18th.

As MiniGod has suggested, please start your own picture thread under "photo submissions"...ie. I started "Stuntman's Markers" thread. If MiniGod participates, he would start "MiniGod's Markers" thread.

Can you clarify rule #1? Does this mean that each picture must contain the marker and either one's face, a bike, or a DSRL shirt?

Britton

That was the original idea, but it has not been followed very closely (including me). Since this is a fund raiser, I don't think we need to be sticklers about it and we are using the honor system. The way I look at it is that if someone wants to post a marker, that is one more dollar raised for the childrens hospital.

PHEW!!! Glad you said that... Most of mine where taken from the saddle.. But I do have my Co pilot in a few...

I drove out to Oak Alley the other day in my Mini and there are a bazillion markers out there... I am headed back on my bike as soon as I get a chance...

Speaking of which.. I gotta get me one of those DSRL shirts... Where are they at???

I hear ya but I do get a kick out of your co-pilot!

Contact Juice for a shirt.

Just my .02 worth...

I think there should be some kind of reference in the pic showing you were actually there. Whether that be your bike, your ugly mug, your hat, your cage, your adorable extroverted co-pilot, your calloused thumb, etc. That was the spirit of the rule. Otherwise it becomes a "free for all".
Now I don't believe there has been any foul play, nor do I think any current submissions should be excluded. I'm sure every one of them was taken in good faith. I also understand that it's for charity, and of course the more money generated the better. But it's really not that difficult to "personalize" the pic somehow.

That's my opinion, but I'll support whatever ruling the governing body decides on.

henceforth I shall throw a shocker into every picture
Just for a little personalization.

How can it be a free for all? You mean, like linking internet pics to the threads?
Other than that, I thought the point was to get as many as possible...
Like ya'll said, though, it's not too hard to put something personal in it somehow.... I was just curious...

Ya know... human sacrifice, dogs sleeping with cats, mass hysteria! :D

You're right though. I should've worded it differently. I don't think anyone would "steal" pics from the internet and post them as their own. But it's suppose to be an adventure as well, not just a 'who can take the most pictures' competition.

Much of this conversation points out why I asked the question. If it is not going to be required, then it is not a "rule" and should be removed from the list to avoid confusion.

I'll be stopping by The Childrens Hostpial of New Orleans next week and I will find out who we need to make the checks out to. When I pass the info on, just send your checks to me (:D) and I will hand deliver them.
