I kinda need a judgement call on this one...

It's the USS Alabama. I snapped the pics from the highway because I wasn't paying the roughly $30 it would cost to park the work truck and for admission. There is a marker for the ship. Near the gangplank iirc.

This one struck me as odd since there's a marker in Laplace for Woodland. There were two really nice looking buildings on the property, but I foolishly assumed that the "ruins" were what was left of the plantation, and didn't take any pics of the other buildings. I Googled it when I got home and came up with THIS (http://www.woodlandplantation.com/index.cfm). I guess there were two plantations named Woodland?

But as a warning.. I rode my bike down to French quarter today and did a walking tour....

There are a bazzillion markers in the french quarter...

And I still have to go back.. I was in a hurry to get back so i just buzzed down St Charles.. Almost every house has a marker on it.. Its insane how many there where...

I figured it will take me a good few hour to creap along and take pics and go back up the other side... My daughter will love that so I am glad I didnt do any of that today...


Just FYI... Bourbon and Royal are both very old streets in the quarter ... Lots of markers on both...

Fort Jackson is on Hwy 23 almost at Venice. There's an iron arch with Fort Jackson on it marking the entrance to the driveway. Follow the driveway back towards the river and you'll see the gate into the fort. It's a shame it's closed to the public right now. I would've loved to be able to walk the grounds.
And the wife and I are going to the French Quarter next weekend :D

I wanted to add Fashion Plantation to the list and make it an even number, but it wasn't in the cards. I drove back and forth through Hahnville looking for that Marker for 45 minutes. This is the third time I've tried to tag that Marker with no luck :(

Holy Crap! I won?!

The funny part is... I could have easily broken into the 300's.
There were several markers in both Plaquemine and Port Gibson, that I would pass each week, but had no where to park the work truck to get pics... and like Doug has touched on, there's so much history in the B.R. area that I never got to also.

This was truly a Grand Adventure.
Thank you Stuntman, for starting this contest. I doubt I will ever pass another marker without stopping to read it.

P.S. I have a stash of 20 markers I was holding in reserve "just in case" I needed a last minute bump. I'll post them some time tomorrow;)
