So far we're collectively just over $200 in the Kitty.
And the amazing part is, there have been only a few Markers duplicated between contestants! The majority have been submitted only once.
Also, has anyone else been learning anything new? I know I have.
I think I was most surprised by the Bonne Carre Crevasse marker. I had no idea that a levee break carved out the "spillway". I thought it was engineered from the get-go.

I have been reading every marker and alot of them I google when I get home . I am learning a ton. And I have lived here all my life and never been on a plantation tour.. I have been on 3 in the past month.. I found both of them informative and interesting..
I am having a great time...
Today I drove my wife crazy running all over the place reading the markers and snapping pics.. I have got to go back and get a picture of that Cornstalk fence house.. The fence is the coolest I think I have ever seen..
This was a great Idea and since I am bringing my daughter most of the time i am teaching and learning at the same time..

I'm having a blast also. I was saying just the other day how "...it's sorta like a treasure hunt. Some of them you know are there. But when one pops up outta nowhere, you get all giddy:)".
Stuntman deserves major kudos. This was an excellent idea!

I found this site. It has user submitted pictures of markers from all of the states. I thought ya'll might like to check some out from other states.

Hey Guys, I found this on the way home yesterday. My younger son had a Doctors appointment in Algiers (which is why I was able to grab my latest two markers). We took the ferry across the river and traveled through Uptown on our way back to Metairie. I was pointing out Markers all along the way and we were discussing some of the history. Well, long story short, we ended up at the Camp Parapet marker on River Rd. I turned on Causeway (something I rarely do/did) and saw a sign for the Camp Parapet Powder Magazine.

It's at the end of Arlington St. I did a little further research and found out that they will do a tour of the powder magazine, but by appointment only. They also request that it be a small group and not just a few individuals.
Perty cool if you ask me :)
