Sunuvabitchbastardmothereffinslangtermforvagina! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

So. Found out something new today on the way home.

The dome vents on a Shoie RF1000 work great. They are also apparently the perfect size to fit a yellow jacket at 50 MPH with said yellow jacket incurring no harm other than a significant elevation of its pissed-offed-ness.

I was riding up 19 on my way home. I heard a "splat". I figured it was a love bug.

No such luck. About 10 seconds after the splat, I became painfully aware that there was something with a sharp-pointed end trapped between my helmet liner and my shiny bald head trying desperately to get my attention.

It succeeded.

I immediately started trying to unstrap my helmet one handed while also trying to find a suitable place to get out of the road all the while screaming a spectacularly colorful string of obscenity at which even 2-live-crew would have stood aghast. I finally managed to unstrap the helmet and skid to a halt in a driveway and rip the damned thing off my head. The little SOB gave me the ADV salute and flew off.

I made it home with an ever growing welt and smeared it with some bee-sting stuff I've had for a while. All is well as luckily, I'm not allergic to those damned things.

A word of warning: If you're heading north on 19 around Slaughter, there is a yellow jacket with exceptional navigation skilz and a bad attitude. Close your helmet vents.:nopity:

Yea, I learned a similar lesson about riding with the faceshield open. Wasps have good aim too.

I always was scared of something like that happening to me since I have a slight allergy to most insect stings. Luckily it never has. It wouldn't kill me or anything, but a bee/wasp flying in by my face shield and stinging me near my eyes would cause them to swell up.

I caught a pygmy wasp between the side of my helmet and my ear. A wasp sting in your outer ear canal is an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone.

No problem. That's how I intended it. If I can't laugh at myself, I can't make fun of anyone else... :D

Im alergic to bees.. I ride with my shield down cause I am very afaid of getting the same treatment..

I was stung by a bee yesterday and had to go to a pharmacy to get a shot ASAP.. I took today off cause my arm was still swollen and itched like a bitch.. Went back to the doctor today , and got another shot...
Apparently I am getting an alergic reaction to the epi (cause I keep getting stung by bees..) Doc says epipen may not be good enough for me anymore... Gonna have to give me something else... He hasn't said what yet..

Anyway.. I feel your pain.. Since I was just stung yesterday.. Its real real bullshit...

LMAO I feel your pain bro they also know how to fly up the sleve of your jacket and do a run around on your torso. Also be aware of crows those black flying birds that think with just there stomach will knock the wind out of you and put a pretty bruise on your chest. Just a warning on those buggers

You Sir, have caused me to spew a rather large amount of coffee onto the keyboard this morning.

So the vents work pretty well, eh?

Good to hear you fought off gravity during this ordeal.

Nick and I where on a ride back from Atanta one day and I had my old HJC Modular helmet on. I had my shield cracked ever so slightly due to the extreme heat of the day.... A big ass red wasp ended up sitting on the upper lip of the helmet.... and all I could think was oh fuck! At 85 MPH on I-20 I really didn't feel like dealing with this.... then the light bulb went off. I just opened up the whole face and Mr. Wasp was sucked out the helmet (Thank God)! That could have been ugly. Glad you didn't wipe out or anything else Aaron.

And thanks for the laugh! lol

Back in my squid days, I was on a long back road outside of clinton when racing a buddy. At an indicated 160mph, I sat up from behind the windscreen to start braking when at that exact moment a bumble bee was gathered up by that soft spot on my throat between my colarbones. Not only did I hit him, he stung me as well...my only positive of the matter was he was killed and I only wished to be dead.

what about just some brillo material inside the vents? It should be porous enough, to let the air flow through, and be hidden from external view...

That's kinda what I was thinking. Maybe roll up some of the screen.

Numerous beehive colonies on levee botttom, north of Henderson, LA. + one rider (me) driving fast at top of levee at hot midday = 2 stings exactly in the only 1x1inch uncovered area of entire body ...throat where jacket collar wasn't cinched up tight. Happened to have 1st aid kit with anti-sting...

Wasps??? those big ones? ugh...I'm going check to make sure kit has more anti-sting wipes...

back in the squiddier days... i was cruisin on the dr650 to school, t-shirt, jeans, tennies, helmet... goin along about 85 on the outer loop, I saw a tiny blur headed towards me... smacks me dead center of my ribcage... felt like I was shot.... all I heard was momentary silence, then the pain hit... On that day, i discovered, a t-shirt was not sufficient armor against the likes of, a bumblebee...

Same place on me. Hornet to collar opening:fireangry: grabbed him too late and ended his career.

Now use a bandanna around the neck (when i remember)
