Is it for the top nut or the bearing adjusting nuts? If it is for the bearings, I don't think you would need to tighten it enough to need a socket. Most require very little torque.

It is for the adjuster nut.
Book says 22 ft/lb, and I'd like something to ba able to get it right..
Anal, I know, but I've put a lot of time and effort into this, and would like to follow the book if possible...
I only need it for 5 min, max..

Sorry, I don't have one. Maybe Cycle gear or Rad's would have the Motion Pro tool?

the top nut is usually just a large regular socket like 24mm or something the under one requires a special type of wrench which no one seems to have and they cost around $50 from the dealership for a bs part... most people just use a screwdriver and put it in the notch and tap it a bit with the hammer... 22ftlbs isnt very much force so it should be fairly easy to replicate...
basically with a steering nut you want to tighten it so theres not really any play in the steering stem but not so much that it makes it difficult to turn the handlebars side to side...

I have a steering stem tool for a 99 Honda VFR. The drive end is square 1/2 inch, the business end has 4 prongs. Let me know if this is what you need. I will bring it to work with me Thursday.

if it's roughly 42mm in diamater, yes, that's the one! I think I've read in the fireblade.org board, where a guy talked about his vfr bearing change and i believe that he listed the same part number...
I need it for like 5 min.. you could stop by the house, we can torque it to spec, and take it with you, if you have the time. holler at me when you have a chance, tomorrow. 505-3966. my lunch is usually 11:30, but i can break away if need be fairly easily, if another time frame is better.
ps, your pm box is full...

I am meeting a buddy for lunch at 11:15 at the Chinese Buffet place on FLa Blvd, , the old Mongolian BBQ place, why dont you join us? They have an awesome buffet! Or you can swing by the office any time other than lunch. If that doesnt work we can hook up Friday. You can hang on to the tool until it is convenient to get it back to me.
(Or I decide to get off my ass and actually adjust my bearing!) But I have the C14 now so I aint worried about the VFR.

See you there! I think the name may have been changed, may not be Mongolian anymore but it is the one at the corner of Fla & Donmoor.
Sending PM
