I'm big, 5'10" 260 lbs (maybe too big to be riding BMW R1200R or SV650) and having trouble finding gear to fit. Even the hard to fit section of "New Enough" didn't seem to have what I need. (I need to go on a diet).

Any suggestions?

Heck, I've seen some Hell's Angels that make me look small, so there must be somewhere out there that can fit me.

Also, is leather considered the best, or is the Kevlar stuff as good.

Price is not an object, I got a lot of skin to protect, and I remember my MSF instructor wouldn't go across the parking lot without all his gear on.

You might check out some of the Firstgear stuff. I've always worn it and at 6'1" and 310lbs I was in the same boat as you.

I am a little bigger than you and I wear Joe Rocket, A 2x should fit you! I have a 42" waist riding pants, and a waist size 50, for overpant. The overpant is windproof, rainproof. Also very warm in winter riding!

In Kenner at the Loyola exit is a dealer that carrys a good supply of gear. Also Cycle Gear on Sherwood has a large assortment of gear.

I need a 54 waist, hence my problem,

I'm going to have to do some serious online shopping.

I understand leather is the best, but have heard of Kevlar stuff. Anyone know about this stuff?

I remember hearing of a guy on this site that was making some good quality custom riding gear. I cant recall who it was but maybe some of the other members can remember.

They make very good gear. The jacket (material is more breathable ) than something like the Aerostitch and is apparently quite strong. Though a little pricey compared to some other apparel I have found it very durable and comfortable.

They apparently will make gear to your specs but giver them a while to get it to you I suppose in your size. Check out their site.

I used a GP2 jacket for years (one of several jackets in my "collection") though I have several friends that absolutely love the Ultra II because they wanted the 3/4 length style. The armor is different from that found in others but there is also more of it.

+1 on the Motoport/Cycleport gear. They actually have a worksheet for custom sizing any of their gear for you. Send a set of your jeans and they will match the fit perfectly. I have the Airmesh II Kevlar 2-piece set and love it. Perfect for the high temps we get around here in the summer, and great armor all around. You also can throw the gear in the washer without removing the armor and wash it. Big plus.
