Hunter borrowed Kit's KLR and we went camping, since everyone else is a bunch of wussies "cuz it might rain" you know who y'all are...

We rolled out int the morning and didn't get wet until after mid day on Saturday. We road tons and tons of fireroads so much so that I got comfortable and nearly wreck doing about 45 in the gravel. The fireroads in the Homochitto National forest are just loaded with hunting and ATV trails. You can ride them all as long as they are not marked otherwise. We did see a fair amount of hunters, but everyone was friendly. Did some exploring along the banks of the Homochitto River, and camped in the rain. Hunter had to be home for Noon on Sunday so the ride home turned to asphalt around 11:00 so we could make it. If you go get the GPS file it's 80 to 90 percent dirt and gravel for the ride north. A couple pictures are below and the rest can be found here http://public.fotki.com/kenwelshons/klr_camping/

Kit did some work to his bike too.

You were right here at the house, shoulda stopped in!!

Your info regarding trails in the HNF, may be off a little....No off road vehicles are allowed in the forest at all, except in the few places that are marked.
Street legal vehicles (KLR) are allowed on all of the open roads in the forest.

Remember, the Rangers in the HNF are fedral, and they take thier job seriously, the tickets they write hurt pretty bad!!

I have no idea where you live. send me a message with your address or something and next time we will stop. You live where I want to live...

and Yes, we camped at the primitive camp ground.

We talked to a female ranger at the enterance to the wildlife management area on the east side and she is the one that said we could ride any roads or trails unless otherwise marked. We did see some trails that were marked for hiking only, but we followed 4-wheeler trails when we left the roads. I know around the recreation area is no OHV's, but I was unsure about the rest of the forest. Next time I'm in the area I'll stop by the district office.
