I'm Aaron and I'm a Farkleholic. There is so much crap clamped to the bars that the only thing left visible on the dash is the tach.:gay:

I finished the install of the helmet speakers and mic along with the power amp that hooks my GPS and radar detector into the helmet speakers. The mic lets me use the GPS bluetooth capability to connect to my cell phone.

Amazingly, the phone is STUNNINGLY clear. There was less noise on the line when I was riding than when I was stopped. And there was ZERO wind noise. I can't believe it.

Only minor issue is my ear plugs are too good. At highway speeds, I can't get quite enough volume out of the speakers with the XM radio playing before the speakers start to distort. I need to play around with some different ear plugs.

The bass response of the little speakers is quite good as well.

Hopefully I can work the volume up a bit. If I were on something with a full faring it would be perfect. On the effectively naked Uly there is a bit too much wind noise.

JM Corp makes excellent products.

what phone/bluetooth/speaker stuff are you using?

the phone is an htc kaiser. (at&t tilt)

the gps is a garmin zumo 550. it uses a separate xm antenna for tunes, traffic and weather. It does not do the doppler radar overlay. it links to the phone via bluetooth and actually allows you to search your contact list and call lists from the gps. it also reads audio books and plays mp3s.

the speaker/mic kit is a premier system from j&m corp. install was a bitch.

radar detector is a V1 in a legal speeding box.

all tied together wit a j&m 967 amp/multiplexer so it all works through the headset. 967 is hard wired to the V1 & gps.

A ton of us are also using the Autocom stuff. Half off right now at autocomamerica.com.

I have the XM Roady, Garmin 276c, Samsung Blackjack, and V1 all tied in. I also have it setup with intercom to passenger. It works great.

I just wish there was something smaller than the legal speeding box. It looks retarded hanging off the end of the RAM mount. But it's worth it on the FJR.

I'll post some links tonight when I get home from work.

The autocom stuff would have handled what I'm doing as well, but I don't need any passenger intercom support and I didn't see that they made a single point system like the J&M.

Agreed on the Legal Speeding box. It is pretty damn dorky.

Now, have you fabricated anything that allows you to mute the damned thing or does that function not work if it's plugged into the autocom? I gotta run mine without the cover so I can see if the mute function still works. If it does, I'm going to build a little plunger that will allow me to push the button through the cover.

I have my remote audio box for the V1 velcroed under the front of the LS box. I figure that if it starts raining I can just yank the little box off and deal with not having a mute.

I'll take a pic tonight and post it up.

Now FWIW I just installed the V1 this week in prep for a trip up the Rockies in a few weeks. So I don't have a ton of time on the setup.

oh yeah. I forgot they made the remote. I just plugged directly into the unit. the remote is probably the way to go.

How is the beasty running? You still meeting me in Vegas?

Seems to be running well. I was able to ride for about 20 minutes at 80 or so last evening right after work with no heat related issues. Vegas is still in the cards. (heh.)

The real test will be my next Atlanta trip 7/20-25.

Drat. I am officially a big, gaping vagina. I will not be making the return trip. I just spoke with Austin and let him know. Nothing left to say, I guess.

No worries my friend! I do understand.

If anyone else is interested in meeting me in Vegas, pipe up.

I'll probably run from Vegas up to Spokane, Washington to visit a college buddy of mine. From there I'll cut across to Montana, down to Yellowstone, then follow the Rockies through Wyoming and Colorado to New Mexico then cut through Northern Texas to Louisiana.

The following link shows the route I am thinking of taking. I'll leave Vegas on Monday, Aug 4th and ride straight through to Latah, Wa (998 miles). I'll spend two days there with my college buddy and visiting my alma mater, Washington State University. On Thursday I'll head to Jackson, Wy where I plan on spending the night. Friday I'll make Durango where I plan on spending the night. I'll leave Durango Saturday morning and should arrive in Mandeville Sunday morning.
