Did some searching to no avail, so here I am to surely beat a dead horse...

I'm looking to get a set of more street oriented tires for the klr, and save the knobbys for the more dirt oriented rides.
Due to some other forum searching, and googling for prices, I've decided on some Pirelli Scorpion MT-90 S/T tires.
Locally the prices are a complete joke, availability everywhere I've searched, has been nil, and will be available after oct 24th.
So far, the cheapest I've found is roughly 86-88 bucks each at ron ayers, and they too are in the same out of stock status.
Several posts have given them kudos for mileage, and wet and dry pavement handling, they do well as to be expected for gravel roads, and bad in mud, as with any tire of that nature...
Since I have time to kill, before they come in, I was wondering if anyone here ran these? How were they?
I know some folks like the tkc's but I want more confidence on wet pavement, than what I've heard of them... What else is out there that ya'll have run, that could compare?

I need to see what was said about those, too... they are 30 bucks more at ron ayers... I forgot about those...

i was looking on denniskirk and the karroo's look promising for as little on-roading as i'd be doing, but from what i read you want a little more road than off road.

yea... i have some more travelling in mind in the future, and these knobbies, aren't going to cut it...
I figure 80/20 street side, ought to be able to handle all of the roads like we rode the other day, pretty well... if it gets more technical, and hilly than that, the knobbies would be better...
I'd like to nab a set of 08 rims as well, so I could ealily swap them around, but there as rare as the tires, right now..

I'm running a set of Distanzias on my GS. Good feel on the streets. I've ridden them in the rain and they did ok. Fairly quiet.

Running Sahara 3's on my KLR. They do better than I expected on the street. Haven't done a lot of off road with them yet. What i did was ok for this pattern. Make a little more noise than the Distanzias but they are more aggressive.

well.. seeing how most of the well known places are out of the scorpions, for a while, I tried Dennis Kirk, who only had one of the needed tires in stock, so i asked about the distanzias, and lo and behold, they had a set! needless to say, I ordered em'. They'll be here next Wed... Thanks tor the tips fellas!

Cycle Gear wanted retail price for the same tires...
Their books showed around 140+ ish for the scorpions, and even more for the distanzias...
I got the set shipped for around 220, from dennis kirk... FWIW
I install my own tires, so I'm not out the additional molestation charges...

Did you try Friendly? Mark got my rear Tourance for the price of the leading (read cheapest) online place I could find.

They didn't have any ds tires in stock, as with seemingly anyone, right now.
On the initial phone call, and they would have to order them, and I figured, if they have to order em, so can I...
So I started looking around...
I usually hit friendly up first, but just didn't go that route, this time...

114.85 for 130x80x17
89.95 for 90x90x21
10.00 b.s. tire fee / tire...
shipping included, (I think applies to orders over $100.00, not sure on that)...
www.denniskirk.com...
Might have gotten them slightly cheaper at ron ayers or southwest, but neither of them had a full set. The mt-90's were even cheaper, but again, noone had a set...

Pics soon.. doing some farkles first...
