i like the smooth sheen you have on yours...
most of the real military ones I've seen are green...
I'm fine with either... just would like to see a cleaner finish on er'...

mcinfantry

my .02
flat colors are hard as hell to get grease off of.
mine is whats called "semi'gloss"
its not shiny, and its not flat. no military vehicle would have been gloss.

the above painted bike is CARC, and its flat. its a "little" easier to clean but its a 2 part paint that is EXTREMELY carcinongenic. i wont touch it.

anyway, you can pm, or email me ltalessi@mac.com, and lets set up a date and price....

what makes it so dangerous? is it a super heavy duty mil spec paint or something?

I do like the way yours looks.
What did you do yours with?

mcinfantry
12-02-2008, 10:50 PM
carc is "chemical agent resistant coating" its made where if a military vehicle is exposed to nuclear, chemical, or biological warfare it can be cleaned, it also has a low ir signal. its expensive, and unable to be used without a fresh air respirator.
it also is not a smooth finish. all modern military vehicles are painted in it, we at least since the 80's
i used gillespie USMC semi gloss.i like the paint... theres lots of colors

hmm...
I had talked to Ben about a wrap.
I was thinking about a digital camo scheme, but if I went the paint route, maybe a solid, like yours, or a subtle camo...

mcinfantry
12-02-2008, 10:58 PM
if the paint isnt durable im going to do a digital wrap.... BUT this is my favorite vehicle color

Man, I really like that!!!! I've been thinking about getting some new graphics for the KTM that have a military theme to them.

This might be a better route. Hard to do?

I'm really thinking about going for this look.

Just only wish I would have known this sooner. I would have ordered a different color helmet,,,,,that would match and go perfect.

I got the flat black one, which still rocks
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c235/blkhalo996/RM%20Photos/RMDSC01078.jpg

But it's offered in flat green, also you can go for the full motocross helmet also.

if/when you want to paint, i have a BUNCH of USMC green. in shadows and at night it looks flat black, you REALLY need to see it in person. i dont like the light greens or OD (they are too brown)

One of the reasons for this bikenite, is to help raise money for the American Heart Association.
To do so, they have a section of the parking lot roped off for a select few bikes, to be entered (free of charge), for a light hearted bike show.
The way you vote is, they place a jug in front of each of the rides.
You drop money in (whatever you wish to donate) and the bike with the most money donated, wins.
Tonight, the gentleman with the Harley MT500, Willie Stephens, won.
