Oil changes on my strom have always been a major pain in the rump. The aftermarket Pat Walsh skid plate is massive and doesn't leave very much room for oil filter removal and installation. The skid plate design will not let you remove the oil filter horizontally due to limited space. You have to rotate the oil filter vertically dumping all oil retained inside the filter onto your skid pan.

Finally K&N finally came through! Their oil filters now come equipped a 17mm socket attachment for easy installation.
