My Gixxer is a total loss.

I was on my way home from laying down 300+ miles north of St franny when a soccer mom talking on her cell phone pulls into my path. I hit her broadside at about 55 mph. My bike caught fire upon impact. Lucky for me it was in a deep curve and I went over the car and landed in a muddy ditch. I never touched the asphalt. I broke a few bones in my throttle hand, my left foot & my back looks like I spray painted it purple. I will post some pictures in a few days………

Man, I hate to hear shit like this. You hit her Broadside @ 55 mph and you are still with us. You should go buy a lottery ticket because you are one lucky SOB. Were you alone?

Yes, I was alone at the time of the accident. I broke off from my group and was heading for home. It happened in Zachary, Saturday about 4:30. I'm not sure the name of the road. It was between hmy 19 & 61. Actually they lady that was at fault rode with me and held my hand in the ambulance. She stayed with me @ the lake until my wife arrived. She is not going to make my Christmas card list, but that was a awesome thing for her to do.

Smoking Hot.....I would give her a 9 out of 10. You don't think I would let a ugly chick ride with me after she ran me over do you? What do you take me for? :D

Man, that's really shitty; but it's good to hear that you weren't seriously injured in a crash like that, not too long ago you'd be lucky to survive that kinda crash in a cage.

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the support. Now the wife is on the lets sell the other bikes rampage again......

The truth is this is what I am. It's what I have always been and what I am to come. I suppose if you don't have it you will never truly understand what we are and what it is that we do.............It's not about the bikes its the feeling of freedom and expressions that we receive from the ride.

The question I often ponder is "Are we selfish for doing what we do"?

RED

I guess the answer to that question, depends on who u ask, of course. For someone who doesn't have that love for riding & all that it entitles, they're most likely to say we're selfish.
Those that know the love for riding & all that it entitles, they're more likely to side w/ u.

There have been moments where I questioned myself & asked if I was being selfish about riding b/c I have kids, but I have always felt that my love for riding & persuing it teaches them that u should do what u love to do in life, u should experience what u love to do in life. Quality of life is what matters!

I can't imagine spending the rest of my life not riding or doing any of the things I love, what a sad life that would be.

Everytime I put on my gear to get ready to ride, yes, the thought crosses my mind of the risks & that this might be the last ride. But as soon as the ride starts, a sense of calm, a sense of completeness, a sense of fullfillment, comes over me & runs through me! It's a feeling I can't imagine my life w/o! It's a feeling that I am willing to die feeling!

I think it would be selfish to pretend to be something that you are not. You could put away your gloves & leathers. You could sell your bikes. Would that change the man that you are? Would that help to slow your heartbeat every time you saw a bike on the street? Speaking for myself, I think It would leave me with a troubled heart and a hole in my soul. The passion and that drive is what makes us different, it makes us what we are.

You have to answer that question for yourself, and from what you just wrote I think you already made your decision......

Let us know if there is anything that we can do to help.

Wow, just saw this post...

I'm glad you're still with us...
and able to type (at least with your clutch hand)

Welcome to the "second chance brotherhood". (Some of us are even on our 3rd or 4th chance)

Are we selfish?

Maybe...
But then again, I've also flipped a '64 1/2 Mustang convertable and havn't given up driving cars.

Why did God spare us?

I don't know...
but I'm finding out,
a little bit more,
everyday.

I agree w/ Juice about what he said about from what u wrote & answering your own question. Starting w/ the sentence in the paragraph, "The truth is this is what I am."
Maybe you should go back and read ur paragraph, u said those things for a reason.
But good luck to you whatever you decide to do!!

Glad you are still with us. I hope you heal up real quick.

A little off topic but this is the 4th Gixxer I have seen or heard of catching fire (after a crash) in the past 4 or 5 years.

should have acted like you were dying and asked for one final blow job...She was the one that hit you. It would be the least she could do..

haha +1 on what boiler said....

but I've wrecked twice myself... and probably more my fault then anyone elses... and so I've had to think about riding again (as I'm sure a lot of others have)... and both times I've said this is too dangerous for me I'm selling the bikes... but yet I pick back up the bikes every time... selfish? maybe... stupid? maybe... but like juice said its who we are... or maybe pringles... once you pop you can't stop... theres a reason that people are bikers for life... you don't hear about people who stopped riding because most of em will ride until they die...

Glad you survived body AND spirit! Yep, we heal a lot slower the older we get
but on the other hand I think we savor the good times and appreciate good friends more also, at least I do. So it just keeps getting better!

Do u really think he'd ever leave the house if he could do that himself??
And NO, I don't want to know if he ever attempted that!

mini- if u ever wreck again & I pray u don't, when u start giving me this line that u r gonna sell ur bike & not ride again, u know I'm not gonna listen, right??

Ya know, I damn near got run down by some knuckle dragger talkin' on the cell phone. I moved into the left lane, and he(fucking jerk) pulled out from somewhere behind me and to my right. Well he comes up my ass and your can hear him hit the brakes and squack the tires. I speed up and shake my head. Well, this mongolude pulls up beside me and flips me off. I'm still jacked off.

Close call for me.

I wish you the best

Gotta lookout for ourselves.

Hey guys, let's ALL join MAC...the motorcycle awareness campaign club...We need to be working to make sure a) we are careful and that b) cagers are looking out for us too.

The MAC group is growing, a chapter in Hammond, another couple getting ready to kick off in the state, and lots of interest outside LA.

MAKE our case HEARD, support MAC.
