Damn Chuck, and yesterday when I passed by your house I thought you were out cruising cause I did not see it in it's normal place. I know exactly what it looks like and can spot it from a mile away. You know if I see it I will do what it takes to get it back for you. Only problem is since you were running the 685 mod I might have a time keeping up in my SICK-FIDDY!!! All kidding aside, I'll keep an eye out.

Parked in front the house right in front of the door. Normally stored in the shop or on the porch. Left it out front since the boil.

Post a few "WTB KLR parts" ads in craigslists throughout the area.
If someone responds, tell them you want an aftermarket tank, etc. See what they come up with. If they offer to sell you what sounds like your stuff, call the cops and get them busted.

Walt's jacket with the speedloader in pocket. I was hoping he would show up at the crawfish boil so I could return it. That speedloader had been kicking around my truck since Katrina.

Since I have not heard a word from the detective in a month I'm gonna go ahead and tell how I got it back.

After discovering the Klr gone, the cops were called. Gave me the usual talk about how he doubts I'll get it back, bike is in parts somewhere yada, yada.

Quick call to progressive confirms that I did in fact drop my comprehesive last year. Fuck!

Put out reward flyers for $1000 for return of the KLR.Also, spread it by word of mouth that selling parts off it was pointless.I put out an APB on it via every KLR site. Figured a grand was cheaper than buying a new bike.

A week later one of the local young hoods needs a favor. Wants me to drive him to his boss's property to pick up a pocket bike that was given to him. I had did a big favor for his girlfriend a while back. Got the feeling he was leading me to my bike. We get to the boss's yard and I see bikes and cars everywhere. Some in pieces. He had about 5 complete dual sports and 1 KLR that was missing quite a few parts. Young hood tells me that's his boss's bike, and he has owned it for about 10 years. While looking at it I notice a building with big shelves loaded down with sport bike parts.

It occurs to me that the boss has a titled KLR frame. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I call the cops when I get home. They send a regular cop over their to look around, but do not have a warrant. He knocks on the trailer door, but no one answers. Sees bike parts through window. Can't do anything. No warrant.

Two hours later Meth tooth calls me. Knows where my bike is. It is around the corner. No way it was ridden there. My klr has the Big Gun exhaust. Frigging loud! I would have heard it. Mirrors are turned backward. Like they were put on hasty. Dohickey tools,1/4 tourqe wrench, tire tools, KLR manual missing......Hmmmmmm.... I'm thinking not only does the thief works on bikes enough to need tire tools he may also own a KLR!

So I give MethTooth a hundred with the promise of the rest if he tells me who did it. What surprized me was he did not haggle up. Took the c-note with no hesitation. I would have asked for more (assuming I was not involved in the theft). He also left with a warning that I better not see him on my property. UZI

I think young hood's boss felt the heat and knew it was in his best interests to have the bike reappear before the cops got closer. Methtooth was just there to make it reappear and hopefull collect full reward.

PS
ST. Tammany cops are worthless:fireangry:

What pisses me off the most is that it may be a fellow KLR rider. I don't think he frequents the forums. Hell, I have 1 1/2 KLR parts bikes laying around. Would have gave him what he needed to fix his free depending on the part. Forks and rims need $ all else free!

An update.

Seems Methtooth has been missing for 6 weeks.Cops even had cadaver dogs sniffing around. Seems he disappeard nearby on my road.

While I have nothing to do with it and I'm not considered a suspect I have been encouraging rumours that I might have been involved Banana12.

Might keep the next crackhead off my lawn.

What you need to do is spend a Saturday afternoon digging a hole in your yard... somewhere very "visable". Then that evening, just before dark, drag a large garbage bag (or two) over to the hole, and roll them in. Toss in a few 'christmas tree' air fresheners, spit into the hole, and then fill it in. Then park the KLR next to the mound, grab a lawn chair, crack a few beers, and wave at the (crackhead) neighbors.

Getting your stuff stolen sucks the big one.
What idiot would steal a KLR ? Oh I know the same one that stole my buddies TW200. They caught him so I doubt it's the same moran.
I have had four trailers, two boats and the contents of a mini storage stolen. None insured, it sucks. No bikes yet, I tend to lock up and or hide all my stuff now.
Hope the cops or a sharp eyed rider finds your bike.
