I've had one on the Buell and Austin had one for the GSA. The Buell was helped a bit by it if I folded the front half under and used it as two layers right under my ass. The one Austin got that fits the GSA is a disaster. It helps nothing and amplifies the bad qualities of the oem seat. So, for me they've been hit or miss.

The only one I had I bought for the GS and I hated it. For me it made a 1000 mile seat into an 80 mile seat. It created hot spots and discomfort in general.
Aaron, do you still have the sheepskin for the GSA?

It's in the garage somewhere. I never throw anything out.
It's strange. I actually used it the 1280 miles/19 hours from your parents' house to Austin with no issues. After that, though, it just wouldn't work for me either.

I prefer to go natural, but if I have to cover I'll go with latex. You get a better feel, and besides, they're ribbed for her pleasure.
Oh wait... I thought you said meat. Nevermind :)

I have a natural sheepskin with the wool side up, next to my hiney.
I've use in on 4 to 600 mile days and probably could not do those miles without it.
My experience is that is allows you to move on the saddle and feel slightly different pressure points and the wool texture helps with air circulation that can't happen with but on leather or vinyl. I also made an easy on, easy off sling that fits under my V Strom saddle and velcros the sheepskin on the seat. THat way, if I expect rain, I can remove it, without taking off the seat(the standard mount TIES the sheepskin under the seat..not very easy to put on or take off...and a WET sheepskin is not much fun.

I bought one about 6 months into ownership of the RR because the stock BMW seat sucked. That made the 30 minute seat a 3 hour seat, so I guess you can say it worked. It looks kinda dorkey, and I was never really able to do a long run more than 3 hours and I had to get off. On the whole, I can say it really improves a stock seat, but cannot compete with a custom leather seat that fits, and breathes!
The Rick Mayer seat did the trick and eliminated the sheepskin. I have done several 400-500 mile runs without any problem. I have been riding most of the last 2 weeks and even in the heat, it is good. Keep in mind that I also have the mesh kevlar pants on too, so lots of air to cool off the buns.

I figured for $50, it would be well worth a try. Gotta be better than the stock DR seat.
I'm not paying as much for a Corbin as I did for my CB750, that's fa sho!

Holy shit no!
I sat on one. It's looks horrible, feels even worse. It locks you into one position and is like a platform that you have to hop off of to get your feet on the ground.

I bought a whole sheepskin on eBay for about $20 and have made several seat pads from it (including my office chair). Sheepskin is not a panacea for sore arses but I'd estimate it adds 50% or more to whatever my endurance would be otherwise. Make sure it's quickly removable should you get caught in the rain as a soggy sheepskin is NOT fun to sit on.
