So I got a new bike my daily commute in the truck was killing me in gas and I finally sat down and ran the numbers and it was cheaper to get a new bike and pay for it's gas, than it was to drive the truck every day. So I looked around and I wanted something with a bulletproof motor and something that would look great as well. Well I found and fell in love with the new Triumph Thruxton. it is an air cooled 865cc EFI motor and it is a blast to ride! Here are some pics as I just rode her home today and I am about to go on a ride and I'll tell you all about it!
mileage will never look like this again!

You would get more trouble free miles out of a bike, plus the shelf life is three times as long. Congrats Kenny, she sure is pretty. Who gets the naming rights this time? I don't think you can get away with calling her a whore!

Yeah she sure isn't a whore at all... Just got back from a 100 mile trip 2 up and it preformed amazing. The mid range power on this bike is unbelievable. I was thinking since it is my "first new" bike, I'll call her Cherry. Even though she isn't red, I think it fits, but I'm open to suggestions.

I "built this" on Triumph's web site, could be my next bike.(love the arrow 2 into 1 pipe) I also like the Triumph scrambler
Thats one cool bike Klantz, whats it like on the wrists with the low bars?
I'd go with Black Cherry

How about:
Honey Rider: First "Bond Girl"
June Palmer: '50's British pin-up model
Mae West: Vintage Sexyness (and you bought her in May)
Janet Pilgrim: First Playboy centerfold
Bonnie Jo Halpin: first Playboy Bunny (Bonne is also a French term for "Good Girl")
Virginia: uh, pretty self explanatory
That's all I got on short notice. I'll see if I can come up with some more :)

The arrow 2 into 1 is nice but they are really proud of that system. I rode the scrambler as well and I like the look and feel of it much better, but it was way underpowered. It has about 10 less hp than the thruxton. Triumph changed the handlebars this year on the thruxton to this M bar from clip ons. So far it really hasn't been an issue I wish they were more like the cafe flat bars, but at any amount of speed, there is no pressure on the wrists. I'll have some updates this week as I start to put more miles on her.

Thanks for all the congrats guys I'm really enjoying it. I need to stay off the internet cause there are some really cool mods for this thing. Already looking at the Fender eliminator kit, air box removal, and exhaust. With those simple mods, it loses about 25lbs, and gains about 10-15 hp.
I'm thinking Honey Ryder, or Bettie as in Bettie Page, and Virginia is a good one too.

Ah, I purposely left Bettie Page off because I've been trying to find a way to make the name work with my 2smoker. But alas, nothing I come up with sounds right. Bettie actually fits your bike better... Black hair, black bike. Both "vintage". Both down right sexy with a "hint" of the naughty that lies beneath.
If it were my Thruxton, I'd name her Bettie in a heartbeat.

Update. I have put just at 1000 miles on her and there are several things to comment on.
1. First thing I am buying is something for the seat which is less like a seat and more like a 2x6 on an unbalanced washing machine. 1" of hard foam on a hard plastic seat pan makes for shooting pains after about an hour and a half of riding.
2. A little buzzy at highway speeds but tolerable. The barend mirrors become useless at about 65mph on up.
3. Something I can't fix but will tolerate is tank size and range. The range on the bike is only about 100 miles. It can be pushed to more but will run out by 150. Triumph claims a 4 gallon tank, but I don't think you can get more than 3 out of it. When the low fuel light comes on with .75 gallons left, it fills up with roughly 2.5 gallons of gas. I have been getting around 47mpg which is well above the average these bikes are getting which is around 40-43 I think EFI has something to do with this.
4. Triumph dealer is kinda crappy. I worked out a flyscreen with the deal of the bike and it was supposed to be installed at the first service this last weekend. Well, no flyscreen and the parts guys tell me that I never paid for it so they didn't order it. So I had to go back to the sales guy to remind him of what we had worked out and then ordered the screen as the one he told me he had in stock was not the correct screen, it was all black opposed to having the gold stripes on the rest of the bike. I think that this is really all dealers and not specific to this one as I haven't found a great one yet.

Thanks pong. It's not a tough payment since I own everything else in my life outright. I don't like financing things but it was a good deal and I had sold my strom to help cover some immediate costs and get back on my feet. I got the chance to take advantage of slow sales at the dealerships this summer and took it. There was another thread around here about old wise dumb young or somthing I dunno. I'll figure it out one of these days.

Allan, I've actually got the matching flyscreen for it but I like the big plain round headlight look better I think and the flyscreen really does nothing for blocking or even smoothing out the wind.

I agree in regards to looks, I have a small fly screen on my 1150R and it makes a fair difference to the wind blast - so if it makes no difference on the Thruxton i'm with you on that.
Looking very clean n sparkley :shady:
